Wow, it's Sunday again and what an eventful week it has been. There's been so many great informative articles shared using the #naturalmedicine tag and I'd like to highlight some of the best for you.
I hope to show the diversity you'll find, not only through browsing our community, but throughout Hive as a whole. When you hear Natural Medicine, the mental image it conjures is usually that of a plant. While plants are the easiest forms of natural medicine to find and are the most well known, there are so many other area's that are naturally medicinal as well.
Everything from Earth, Fire, Water, venoms produced by other animals, dancing, mindful moments and even the 'placebo effect' can all be medicinal. There are many examples well beyond those above and many different ways those above and those not mentioned work to heal us and others.
Our ancestors used heat(fire) in a myriad of ways to cure illness. Some are proven methods that work and others that were based more on superstition than functional application, but many served both purposes.
shares one such method used in the pre-Columbian era throughout Latin America called a 'Temazcal'.

So he was quite happy to share with us the different types of temazcal sessions, may they be for curative reasons, for spiritual ones, temazcals for women, temazcals for warriors, temazcals for vision quests, temazcals to bring back someone from an injury or sickness, or simply to enjoy a nice sweat.
He shows us how to build this simple sauna, which you can do right in your backyard. The most important thing I took from the article and the series of articles he's been sharing is the importance of community for the sharing of knowledge.
When we are accepting, open-minded and inclusive, the diversity of the people that come into our lives is so enriching. Please stop by and visit the evolving community is sharing with us from Mexico.

Another form of medicine is living in an environment that is perfectly suited for you. If you love your surroundings, there's little to stress about, which germanates a mindset for health.
is aware of this and even though he isn't quite to that place yet, he's devoting his energy to create a plan towards achieving this goal. There are many theories centered around vibrational frequency and how they can heal or harm us.
Sacred Geometry is one such theory that in the very least is an interesting topic. shares with us his dream environment and how he plans on enhancing that environment to live out his days in bliss.
He's designed or shared with us the design of a Geodesic Dome he hopes to build, tells us a bit about the reasons he's looking in this direction and how it fits into his research about Permaculture Design.

I've been into this matter for maybe two months and what I'm mostly obssessed with is the Geodesic Domes used as houses. The Domes are based on "sacred geometry" and it looks like the flower of life geometric figure used by the ancient civilizations. The domes and the permaculture apparently go hand by hand,

is using 'elimination' as medicine. We are being bombarded with synthetic toxins every day from just about all of the mass produced products we use.
Some of those products are what we use to cleanse ourselves with. It seems a bit counter-intuitive to cleanse ourselves with toxins and it is.
is starting out by switching from shampoo to no-poo products. They started with using a few common household products to try out a few alternatives available on the market.
There's a pretty detailed breakdown and review of both methods, which I think you'll find useful. If you are thinking about detoxifying your life, stop by and check it out.

A quick online search taught me that I wasn't going to find it without having to pay high shipping costs, so this made me decide that this was the time I needed to learn more about the DIY natural options to help my hair through the transitioning phase. Let's check out the options below:

is on her mindful journey toward self-healing and is documenting it all on Hive. Her articles not only give us an intimate glimpse into her life, but are filled with depth and insight we can all learn from.
The depth looks into the thoughts, emotions and actions of herself and parents through a lens of many different perspectives. We can all use her insights and depth to become better people ourselves, especially as parents.

Mental Dis-ease (I hate using the term mental illness -- it is very separating and permanent) is bio-psycho-social model. And there was a part of unweaving my mind that was not being corrected by all the fruits and vegetables I was eating (the bio part of the model). There was something to me (psycho-social element) that was separate from the biology of my flesh that I needed to heal as well.
I am not the problem child, Mom.
Then there's the winner of last weeks Wild Edibles Challenge. While everyone else concentrated on a plant(s) they encountered, shared something a bit different.
The Amazon is among the most exotic places on earth and is home to the largest variety of life compared to just about any other geographic location on Earth. Her grandfather was a shaman who kept to a strict diet and ate some things we in the "civilized world"(I say this sarcastically) would never dream of consuming, even when starving.
The truth is, all life supplies others with the nutrients necessary to survive, so every living entity is edible, many only once.😀 Her wild edible contribution was a meaty caterpillar native to the area. While you may be grossed out by the thought, it's a very interesting article and is written in both Spanish and English, so more can enjoy the cultural lesson
