There are 3 reasons why I actually don’t do any cheat days where I eat junk food, drink soft drinks and let all the health eating „rules” go out of the window.
1. My body has changed.
My gut bacteria and taste buds have changed so much over time that nowadays I dream of things like raw asparagus and fresh custard apples instead. Apart from that, I also put a great focus on eating enough as well as nutritional density in my meals which if we don’t are both easy triggers for cravings.
2. I have new priorities.
I respect my body too much to preference any taste experience over feeling great. I certainly know how such cheat meals might often end - with a foggy mind, heavy and tired limbs and numbed emotions. Something I haven’t experienced in a very long time and am not eager to go back to. I want to feel fantastic after my meals, every day.
3. I just like it too much.
I learned to make healthy meals super delicious - by coming up with creative recipes, using high quality ingredients and just lots of experience with preparing fresh foods. Healthy versions of pasta, pizza, sushi, wraps, desserts can actually be pretty easy - if you have access to really good recipes (like this Curry Zoodle Bowl from my ebook Cozy Flavours - Raw Vegan in Winter.
So at the end, I don’t really feel like my way of eating has any „rules“ that restrict my choices and make me want to break them on cheat days. I learned to love this raw vegan lifestyle so much that my daily meals tastes as good as cheat days while making me feel fully nourishing in my body.
