Hello guys, hope you are healthy and well. All this food and drink is gonna bloat me up someday.
Anyway, today I have another burger vs burger. An expensive one and a normal/cheap one.
The first one is from a place called Khanas, located near solmaid, locally known as: “the restaurant behind Apollo”. Apollo is the previous name of a hospital.
I was supposed to try this burger with a friend but sadly she couldn’t make it. She also hadn’t tried this. Hopefully, she won’t be mad about this and would come with me here.
The location is Khanas’ but after reaching it here I found that I had to order it from there. Like, they asked me to order from the shop which was not theirs. First time for me, this experience. I saw from their menu that their burgers were handcrafted, I thought that was gonna be a good thing, reason to spend here.
The menu of Jay’s craft. Each looked fat and juicy, ready to be munched on. I was told to get the Jay’s Signature, beef. This one costed Tk349 meaning about $3.7. Yeah, $3 is a lot here.
I also brought back another burger, the Classic Alley’s beef. That I brought for my mom😅.
It took them over 40 minutes to deliver. But, it was still hot. Very well managed by the delivery man to maintain the heat.
Also equally impressive that the presentation of the burger wasn’t ruined. Either man was somebody who could balance a pole in a 100ft tall building tor the restaurant was very close by…
The bun was brioche meaning that I had to chew a bit more, I’m more of a sesame bun guy. The brioche may look nice but it isn’t doesn’t give me a “dig in” vibe.
There was this beef patty with a “crispy sausage bacon”. The sausage bacon wasn’t crispy but it had the pink color of medium rare. The yellow balls was cheese.
The burger was truly marvellous, it had a delicious onion that gave the burger a tangy flavour, livening up the mood. There was a layer of melted cheese and sauce that wasn’t greasy but tamed the over spiciness of burger. The bbq sauce along with another sauce that I didn’t quite get 🥲😅 but it made the burger wet.
Our second burger place is at another locally famous location, Jamuna Future Park. It’s name is Takeout. There’s a scandal relating to this restaurant, not that this restaurant did something but that there’s another restaurant with the same name.
Anyway, I once came to this restaurant but couldn’t have the burger that I wanted to portray in this post. So, this time I went there by myself.
Got me 2 of their cheapest burgers and a coke. The name of the burger is called Eggeroni. The burger cost Tk-90, less than $1.
It was a simple looking burger, an fat egg patty with lettuce, mayo and some other sauce. That’s what I saw at first. Pretty disappointed that I got duped.
After a bite I discovered that a layer of chicken patty was also present, not so fat as to present itself on the outside but it was inside the egg patty.
And boy was it good. I took some time to finish the first one, savoured. The juices were still in, the chicken wasn’t overdone, the heat was still in, and the best part was that the sauce level was perfect, not too much and not too low.
The combination of the chicken with the egg really made that patty special, like having a sweet chunk of beef on the golden river of yolk, except that the yolk was fried.
I did want another one but that my stomach gave the red signal. This was a good meal too, not just a small snack.
Conclusion
Both burgers were well presented and were hot. Jay’s had a tangy onion that made the burger more lively, wholesome. Takeout’s had their patty hidden in the egg patty, a bountiful surprise. Both of them were enjoyable.
But, Jay’s burgers were supposed to be bigger, much more bigger than what I had. How do I know this? I once saw the size of it in one of the pictures on social media, one of my friend’s.
It wasn’t trick photography as I had asked him in person about the size and confirmed it to be that huge. I think Corona hit this restaurant bad. Regardless, this was one of the big negatives.
Moreover, I’ve had Burger lab’s burgers, they would give me a bigger burger than this for an even lesser price. Quality does matter here, but I believe that the price didn’t fit the burger for Jay’s.
Whereas takeout had humble sized burgers for a fairly reasonable price, it should be even less that Tk90 I feel. Their burgers were satisfying and gave a “let’s eat more” desire.
So, this time too, the cheap burgers take the vic.
