I am finally gloriously back!
I've been procrastinating, I admit it! Was waiting for that certain right moment that ended up lasting for three months.
Yesterday was my Hive Birthday, but traditionally it's celebrated day after - today actually. Photo above shows almost deadly looking leftovers cake which my dear darling refused to have last night as his B-day cake [wtf is wrong with you man?]
So I accepted the destiny.. till I opened my gorgeous blue eyes this morning, stretched myself for another half an hour around warm blanket, yes blanket season is crawling towards us slowly.
He didn't want cake - I did 😏, but this post isn't about the cake [find here what we munched], next to the cake he also didn't want nothing to be different today, neither food - he said so and whole day turned into, give me this, give me that, make me this, make me that - cause today I don't want any attention! - liar, liar.
Pizza, that's what he wanted!
Kidding me right, you wanna pizza as B-day dish?
[luckily he bought some extra bread so that idea dropped]
I wasn't in the mood to stick hands in dough and mess around, homemade burgers tasted much better in my head, and plus minced meat is already defrosted [upfront planned].
For six burgers, you will need about 200 g of minced meat, one egg, salt, pepper...
In order not to make them too simple, considering that at the start I was deprived of that wonderful aroma of the grill, I added 150 grams of ham, 50 grams of cheese and 5-6 spoons of breadcrumbs to combine everything nicely.
...one clove garlic, finely chopped. First of all, add the egg and spices to the meat, afterwards chopped ham and cheese and at the very end breadcrumbs, or do it as you wish - not my responsibility :D
The most important is - meat shouldn't crumb during frying.
Let it sit for a few minutes, then fry it on a well-heated and slightly oiled pan.
At first I wanted to add finely chopped onion to the meat, but [there is always at least one but with me], I changed my mind and decided to give a try to a homemade onion rings.
Oh, I love them!
Before I start experimenting with rings, while frying the burgers - do the dishes, never ending life agony.
Almost forgot one small tip on how to shape burgers more easily without a lot of mess, and for all that you will need a plastic bag that you will cut into a rectangle, a few drops of oil so that the meat does not stick to the bag. Form the ball, fold over, press and shape with your hands.
Peel the onion, then cut into rings of the desired thickness and separate the ring layers. This one was huge and more than enough for two people.
Soak in milk for 10 minutes, milk will extract all the spiciness from the onion and thus make the taste more pleasant. Next to it one egg will be needed, handful polenta and breadcrumbs - salt and pepper of course.
Spice egg, mix it with fork, combine polenta and breadcrumbs - further process is simple - dip into egg, dip into crumbs, another dip in eggs - pan.
For frying them, it is desirable to have more oil, which I ran out of during the preparation, and guess who didn't want to go to the store?
No one, so I risked with what I had.
These turned out the best, therefore honored to pose in front of my lens - rest are never gonna be seen in public!
Dilemma of the day - leftover onion flavored milk? What to do with it and not throw it away? SAUCE! YESYESYES DO THE SAUCE, you will like it!
In 150 ml milk, add a spoonful of sour cream, spoon of flour, a lot of pepper - I mean a LOT and pinch of salt, saute a little onion for extra rich aroma then add milk and company, stir constantly until starts boiling - add more pepper!
Guess who was first to start?
Yeah, and he didn't want any of it, silly him!
[Wild ride is behind me during last three months, finally I'm setting back into comfy me, working my a* off daily, biting hard and starting all over again as I did last year, same time - same place, apparently screwed up something on the way, however I don't mind making another circle as long as I have an opportunity for new beginnings, and him to tell me he DON'T want nothing special - so I can make him nothing special]*
Bon appetite!
