Every Sunday, we are all gathered at home since it's everyone's day off from work. And whenever we are done, we plan a good, festive lunch together. So for today's blog, let me share with you all what we had the last time.
Since we are doing this only once a week, we would love to put in extra effort to prepare the foods we want. We grilled some marinated pork and bought some fish as well. We cooked them first together with rice before cooking the rest of the viand.
Aside from the pork and fish, we also cooked some main dishes, such as Kare-kare, Chicken Adobo, and Pakbet. We already arranged them in the table after cooking, so they'll be accessible when it's time to eat. We got a lot of food at this moment since we were also celebrating my Mama's birthday, and she requested a simple lunch like this on her special day.
Of course, we will never forget to prepare some vegetables as our side dishes. We also prepared some sliced tomatoes and onions, and even got ourselves some steamed eggplants. Having such side dishes makes the food balanced.
My older brother also bought some fruits: Durian, Mangoes, and Watermelon. They are perfect to balance everything we prepared for today. We sliced them and arranged them on the table together with the dishes we cooked. The kids are also excited about the fruits since they love all of them.
After getting everything ready at the table, we gathered together and grabbed our plates. No more talking - we just wanted to start the feast. I got myself a plate too, and of course, it's time to get my favorite Kare-kare. I also added some grilled pork and the vegetables. I looked at everyone, and they are also enjoying every bite. Indeed, it was a perfect Sunday lunch for all of us.
