Hello culinary lovers, today I will share a simple vegetable dish menu that you can try at home. One of the vegetables that you can consume is chayote. There are many processed menus from chayote that can be a variety of delicious dishes including stir-fries. Like what I will cook today. This time I will cook chayote with fresh small shrimp. The addition of shrimp gives a savory taste to this dish and also ingredients such as chili (add pepper powder for a spicier taste, I don't use it) and onions. You can also add other spices such as lemongrass, bay leaves and galangal when sautéing the spices for a more fragrant aroma (optional) I don't use it.
Now here is a recipe for stir-fried chayote vegetables which can be a delicious menu choice to complement your rice dish. Let's see the ingredients and how to make it below.
- 2 pieces of chayote
- 200 grams of small shrimp
- 5-10 red chilies (the level of spiciness can be adjusted to taste)
- 8 cloves of shallots
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tsp flavoring
- 1 tsp / to taste salt
First: prepare a container filled with water. Peel the chayote and cut it lengthwise to make it easier to grate, or thinly slice it according to taste. Discard the middle part.
Second: chop the red chilies and onions
Third: heat the cooking oil, add the chopped spices, stir-fry until wilted and fragrant. Add the shrimp, stir well, cook until the shrimp are reddish, then add the chayote and add half a glass of water. Stir well. Wait until the water reduces. Add flavoring and salt, stir well. If the vegetables are tender, turn off the stove and you're done. Don't forget to correct the taste in each dish, friends.
Our stir-fried chayote vegetable menu is complete, ready to be served to your beloved family with a little sauce that makes this dish fresh, delicious and has a soft texture, enough to pamper your tongue, besides this dish is very suitable to be eaten with various side dishes such as fried fish and chicken, or sambal fish. Basically, this simple vegetable can be a menu for your simple daily dishes and is delicious to eat anytime, either for lunch or dinner.
In my area, chayote is one of the vegetables with an economical and simple price, but at certain times such as Eid, chayote becomes one of the vegetables that is highly sought after and the price also goes up quite a bit, why not on that big day many people need it for vegetables that will be mixed in lontong sauce, did you know that lontong dishes are very typical and must be present on Eid.
In addition, chayote is a vegetable that is easy to process with various side dishes, one of which is cooked with coconut milk sauce combined with carrots and its distinctive spices. Usually this dish is eaten with lontong called lodeh which I have mentioned above, but there are also those who serve it with rice.
