"Bhapa Ilish" means Steamed Hilsa where "Bhapa" depicts for steaming. It is a very popular traditional Bengali dish and trust me, you will also gonna fell in love with the dish.

Ingredients:
- Hilsa fish / Ilish machh
- Black mustard seeds
- Poppy seeds ( Posto )
- Salt
- Turmeric powder
- Green chili
- Mustard oil
Process:
- First of all rub the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder and leave it for few minutes.
- During that time, make a thick paste of black mustard seeds by adding 1 or 2 green chilies (the number of chilies is according to your preferences)
- Make the paste of poppy seeds (the amount of this paste will be 1/3 of the mustard paste)
- Now add all pastes and some mustard oil to the fish pieces and mix them well.
- Take a stainless steel tiffin box and pour the fish pieces into the box with 2 green chilies.
- Now take a deep vessel and pour 4 cups of water and place the fish-containing box within it. Cover the vessel with a lid and place it on the flame (you can also use a pressure cooker or microwave oven for the steaming process)
Serve it with steamed rice.
