Hello foodies! Since I know that many people are used to skip having breakfast in the morning due to the lack of time or being in a complete rush to reach their job or school, today I will dedicate this Sunday to share a few recipes you can consider for a quick and healthy breakfast.
For the vegetarian community, I'm sure that this kind of food is not unknown since they are used to drink/eat a lot of smoothies made with vegetables, fruits or even a mix of the two. There might be also some of you who prefer having lemonade or a smoothie with some ice cubes in their drink during a hot day of summer, but if you own a blender it won't take more than 1-2 minutes to make your own drink at no cost and even a lot tastier! 😜
- 200 ml of milk
- 5 plums
- 7-10 raspberry
- 2 bananas
- 1 mandarin
- oat with canned fruits
- optional: other fruits and/or vegetables
I started by first cutting the bananas in smaller pieces and then dropping them in the blender jar where I used one ripe banana and one rawer.
The next step was peeling the mandarin and add its slices as well.
I wanted to include a mandarin in my smoothie to keep a balance and not have a very sweet drink caused by the quantity of bananas and milk.
Then I added the plums and raspberry too which in my case were frozen but if you have fresh fruits that's even better!
One thing I always pay attention to is to start filling the jar with the softest fruits at the bottom and continue with the hardest ones to avoid forcing the blades of the blender to break these into smaller pieces.
After you are done adding the fruits and vegetables you want for your smoothie, it's the moment to add some oat depending on how abundant you want your drink to turn out but I usually add around 5Tbs to make it pretty thick because otherwise, I don't feel like it's calming down my hunger.
Also, you can use both simple oat and oat with canned fruits but for this time I opted in for the 2nd option.
Last but not least, you have to add either milk that can be normal milk or a different one, but also water if you have any sort of lactose intolerance. I usually add half of the quantity I want to obtain so if I drink from a smoothie jar that is 400ml, then I add 200ml of milk and then start blending everything for 1-2 minutes until everything is completely dissolved and we obtain a fluid drink.

And... here is how my smoothie turned out with the first recipe shared.
The milk, oat and bananas are usually never missing in my smoothies but considering that summer is right around the corner and we will be able to enjoy a lot more fruits, I can't wait to try some other recipes too along with having vegetables in their composition from time to time. 😃
So far I prepared smoothies with apple, pear, banana, cherry, watermelon, orange, mandarin, peach, plums and raspberry but I do have a few more recipes in my mind that I can't wait to try out and figure out what's my favourite.
Until then though, I'd like to ask what smoothies are you usually preparing? With fruits? Vegetables? Maybe a mix between the two? Let me know what's your favourite and I might try it by myself too! 😉
