Introduction
Hi friends from Foodies Bee Hive I’m so glad to be part of this community. Let me introduce myself, I’m Hansel, living in Bogotá, I’m a musician and food lover.
I’d like to share in this community good places to eat and try different tastes. I’m not the best cooker but sometimes I’ll share some receipts. I’ll do my best to get engaged with people of the community and learn more about cooking and foods.
El Virrey
Our first stop in this foodie journey is "El Virrey". This restaurant is located in a traditional hotel in the downtown area, this hotel is called "Tequendama".
Unfortunately the original location of the restaurant is under a make over, so they moved temporarily to the hotel's main room.
The menu has varied foods but the specialty are the steaks. That was I ordered, the name of the dish is "Lomo Salteado Peruano", which means Peruvian Stir-Fried Steak and Potatoes. It is a classic receipt of the Peruvian cuisine.
The steak was delicious, juicy and soft to chew. Marinated with beer, but also wine is used to marinate it. Potatoes are peeled and cut into strips and fried. Definitely it was a great election in the menu, really enjoyed and so tasty.
Other menu options are BBQ ribs, rice and shrimps, more Peruvian rice and pasta. Of course, Colombian cuisine is included like Bandeja Paisa (I’ll show you later what is that) and Cartagena recipes.
Despite the original location is not available yet, we had a good lunch time with mom. The waiter said there are days in which they make a buffet with different countries foods, so I probably be there to try their buffet.
Here are some pictures of the room, but I wanna show you the restaurant as soon is ready for the public again.
This was my first post of The Food Stop, thanks for reading and
I hope you join to the next adventures and flavours. See you soon!
