Hello good people. I hope you're all doing well. Since it is Ramadan, I've been cooking every two days or so as I prefer to eat home made food during this time of the year. I enjoy eating fish, but I haven't been to the fish market in a week because they close at 4 p.m., and my office closes at 5 p.m. So I asked one of my friends to go out and buy some fish for me today. He bought me two trout fish. I usually bake trout fish in the oven, but this time I wanted to try something different. So I made trout fish with curry powder, tomato and red bell pepper.
Here is my recipe...
Ingredients
2 whole trout fish 600 gm
2 onions chopped
1 large tomatoes chopped
1/4 spoon turmeric powder
1/4 spoon red chilli powder
1/2 spoon cumin powder
1 spoon curry powder
4 garlic cloves
2 red bell pepper
4 tbs olive/canola oil
ginger
Instructions
- Descale the fish by rubbing salt on the skin to remove the slime and rinse under running water well. Cut into steaks or fillets, drain and keep aside.
- On medium heat, add the oil to the pot. When the pan is hot enough, add all of the fish pieces and fry for 10 minutes on both sides, until brown. Then set the medium fried fish aside.
- Add a little more oil and combine the onion, garlic, and ginger. Fry for a few minutes.
- Add all the spices together and mix well.
- Then add all of the tomatoes, red bell pepper and cook until they soften and are well blended into the masala. Sprinkle a little water from the sides, and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Drop the trout pieces into the curry one by one, leaving enough space between them. Pour in half a cup of water from the sides, gently shake the pot with kitchen mitts or gloves, and cook on medium heat until the curry begins to bubble.
- Turn down the heat, cover the pot, and cook for 5 minutes, or until the oil rises to the top and the curry aroma fills your nose, making your mouth water.
The trout curry is now ready to enjoy with steamed rice. Enjoy your meal :D
