There was this one night I was craving for some ramen and I remembered Thong Lor has a lot of Japanese restaurants. Apparently, this area has the most Japanese expats, so it is as expected to have a lot of Japanese restaurants and mall here. There's even a Japanese hospital nearby. :D So, this area is the best to look for an authentic Japanese dish.
I stumbled upon this restaurant in Google called Taishoken Ramen which has a lot of good reviews. Me from Ratchathewi area at that time, had to travel to Thong Lor which was approximately 10 minutes via BTS (train). You know you're close to Thong Lor when you overhear Japanese people talking somewhere lol.
It only takes a 5 minute walk from the station to the restaurant which was located inside a mall called Fifty Fifth Thong Lo and this appears to have a lot of Japaneses stuff in here as well.
You know you're about to eat some good Japanese food when the restaurant looks like this.
It was surprisingly empty. I mean this mall seem to be lol. When I went there, there was only one father and son dining, so I got a bit self-conscious thinking that the workers will be watching me eat haha.
There's a LOT of ramen to choose from which got me confused as well. In the end, I just got their best seller Special Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen which costs 250 Baht ($7). Of course, always end up just ordering the best sellers. :P
They also have other foods in the menu like side dishes, rice meals, and desserts.
I was so excited when my order came. It looks so tasty.
I tasted the broth and it's soooo good. It's thick and delicious. Their pork is also so soft.
The best part is I got a pickled ginger which I could get as many as I want without an extra charge. In some restaurants you have to pay for this as an extra order. It's soooo good to pair it with ramen and it was the first time I found out about this haha.
I got a small stomach capacity so I was already full with one meal and didn't get to try their dessert and other side meals. @Acidyo did try their tonkatsu pork and fried rice and he liked it as well.
The prices were not too cheap nor too expensive as well and it was definitely worth it!!
