So why not splurge a bit?
On my way home from the VA in Atlanta, I got the news that my trip south to visit with my sister could not happen tomorrow as planned.
So on the way home, while driving I contacted the motel and car rental places to cancel those, I called my neighbor (who was going to come over tomorrow night and feed "His Majesty Crown Prince Tommy of Assholia" and called my niece Michele who lives not far from here.
So all the bases covered, I stopped a Kroger and bought TWO, not one, but TWO boneless ribeye steaks (there were 4 marked down)
I had the heart of Romaine (the round container) tomatoes and onions, I grew the bell, poblano and banana peppers.
So I tenderized and dried the meat
Seasoned it with S&P
I put these sliced peppers, Lemon Thyme and Rosemary in the oil once I had the meat seared, then turned the fire down and added butter, to baste the meat with the herbed butter.
While all that was proceeding, I built my salad
I've found that when I buy a head (or stalk, depending on your POV) of Romaine lettuce, if you cut the root (you won't be able to use that anyway) cut off the darker tops (that are almost always beginning to wilt already) and use those first, the remainder, centers and all fit nicely into one of these containers.
Snapping the lid down keeps the lettuce from wilting further, it's worked well for me so far.
Otherwise the lettuce sits on a shelf or in the vegetable drawer/bin and wilts rapidly.
So, this was the end result (of all that effort)
I had gotten some frozen taters out and heated the airfryer, but I forgot.
They weren't ready by the time everything else was, but they got et anyway.
I am stuffed (no way did I eat all that piece of meat. I should be able to get at least two more eatin's outta that thang.)
