↑I just had to have an opening image↑
As any of you who follow my exploits know, I can't really go to my normal supermarket/grocery store chain without going to the "Discount/Mark Down" meat section.
I get a lot of good buys there, usually bringing my treasures home to the freezer.
Couple of days ago however, I found a first for me. Sub Sandwich set ups!
Years ago when I worked at Subway (a sub sandwich chain here in the USA) one of the things we had to do in the slower times of day was to put together these "set ups"
The Italian BMT consisted of ham, Cotto Salami, and pepperoni
Cotto is the Italian word for cooked, and cotto salami is distinguished from other types of salami because it is, in fact, brought up to a high temperature during the preparation process. Traditionally, many other types of salami were never heated. Instead, raw meat was fermented and cured with salt. source
So this package was already marked down (the price I first saw) to
$4.19!
but when I got to the checkout, and turned the package over, I found yet ANOTHER marked down price:
$0.99!
I feel sure that was a mistake, but I got this 1 lb package for 99¢ + tax!
I have just finished a sammich on Rye bread with home grown sliced mater, ham from this package, sliced and slightly pickled home grown cucumbers.
Mmmm mmmm MMM! Them's some good eatin' right there, I don't care who you are!
