They have unlimited questions in their heads and sometimes it is much better to let them get involve of the activities at home. Teach them while they are eager to learn and let them get involve in every piece of activities. Train them while they are still young. When they are doubtful, guide them.
This is my story today with my 6-year old godson.
Hey Hivers!
Yesterday, I personally carved some fruit and vegetables. My niece taught me on how to do it. Here's the link of my carving lesson yesterday.
I don't want to put into waste the used veggies and fruit so I decided to keep it and make smoothie.
This morning together with my 6-year old godson, we made smoothie. Since he was at home this morning and asked many questions about smoothie so I taught him on how to do it. I let him do it by himself and guided him until we finished.
When we make smoothie at home for our own consumption, we don't mix it with many ingredients. Milk, small amount of water and fruit/veggies will do.
So we started to slice the carrots, cucumber and apple into small pieces. At first, I did it by myself and let him observe of how I did the slicing.
I asked him if he can do it, and he replied "yes" so I instructed him on how to properly hold the knife. Look at him, he was a fast learner. As I looked at his face showing a serious facial expression while slicing the carrots, it really made me smile. So adorable, right?
After a while, he took a rest and keep looking at the food in front of him. Hmmm, I know what he was thinking.
And yeah, I was right, he picked some of it and ate it. He loves carrot and cucumber and he kept eating while he was working on his task.
After slicing, he slowly put it into the pitcher. I asked him if he needs help but he said "no". Well, he really gave his best to do it well. I am proud of you little boy.
Next, he slowly mixed it with milk. I let him used spoon but he refused, he wanted to do it that way. Hmmm, he has his own strategy now. Well, I did not interrupt him so I let him do it by his own.
I asked him "what do you think is the next step", he just gave me his cute smile so I instructed him on what to do.
Look at his face, so serious!
He grabbed the cover and covered the pitcher. Hmmm, that's my boy! You got that high initiative from me (lol).
I asked him if he was tired and he replied "No, I'm not!".
After a few minutes of waiting, he was excited to pour it into the glass.
I offered him my help but he told me "No, I can do it".
He slowly poured it into the glass.
I told him before we started that we won't put it with ice. We will just place it in the fridge.
Look at his first ever smoothie that he made by himself.
Teaching kid requires high patience because they could not control their actions yet.
I enjoyed of what I was doing this morning together with this adorable boy. I realized that he was no longer a baby who I used to carry before, he was already a little boy whose creativity is already activated. As his godmother, my guidance is one of the best thing I could offer to him.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
