I'm gonna share the procedure on how you can also prepare this Ogbono soup you know it is not our fault just that we are surrounded by different tribe that has different delicacy and day by day as them too like our delicacy we too like theirs. By so doing our young girls are getting married to them even as their young men too get married to our women this is the main reasons we can also get access to their delicacies and them too get access to our delicacies by so doing name are giving to so many delicacy reasons is for everyone to understand and know. But for this particular soup is igbos soup. but it has become general delicacy especially for us in Akwa Ibom State
The ingredients are
° Ogbono
° Okro
° Dry fish
° Goat beef
° Periwinkle both the remove and the non remove ones
° Crayfish
Red pepper
Maggie Cubes
Hot leaf
Palm oil.
Ndupapuyo or ogbono is a mango like fruit from a tall tree that is being harvested for consumption this fruit has to go through process before it then put in the market for sell. So I bought little quantity because I didn't want my soup to be too sticky. Large quantities can be so annoying because how sticky the soup will be that you can't even eat it, I didn't want that to happen so I use little amount of it.
Me chopping the okro
The chopped okro
This is the amount of okro I will be using
I add few pieces of okro well wash and with the help of chopping board I chopped it to smaller sizes
That is the beef that am washing.
Here is the goat beef am using
The remove Periwinkle mentioned earlier.
First of all you wash the goat beef into the pot and seasoned the beef the way I deed alongside with the remove Periwinkle.
Inside the pot about to start my cooking
I use salt to wash the dirt out of the fish
Then wash the dry fish with salt to remove dirt and sand the fish might has occupy during the drying process by the seller. After washing the fish add it with the already seasoned beef, add the amount of water you want.
After grinning it looks like this. You have to grind it before you cook it.
This is how I buy the ogbono from the market
The ogbono or mbukpapuyo has to be grind very well
I use this rubber grinder to grind all my thing. Including Crayfish and fresh pepper.
That is pepper in the grinder
This the rubber grinder I use in grinning all my things.
Wash the hot leaf (Adusa) and slice it to pieces.
The cooking procedure...
Now is time to add the grind ogbono or mbukpapuyo while the water is not boil yet so That it will dissolve very well, if not if you add it to hot water you wont have the best result as the ogbono will not dissolve and is bad. Add some oil, pour in the non removable Periwinkle, add the chopped okro, add Maggie cube to taste, add the grind Crayfish and pepper keep turning with spoon to mix well finally add the slice hot leaf turn it and bring it down. The soup is ready
Add the amount of water you want to use. That is what am doing here.
Add the ogbono to the pot of cold water before I on the gas.
Pour in small palm oil to make the soup look nice and attractive.
Add the the other Periwinkle that is the non removable Periwinkle.
Add the chopped okro to the pot and allow for some minutes precisely 5 minute
Add Maggie cube according to the amount of soup you are cooking.
That's the Cubes that I'm adding to the soup.
Add the grinning Crayfish and pepper.
Turn it with spoon to mix.
After adding the slice leaves turn it and bring your pot down.
Final ingredient add the slice hot leaf adusa.
Ogbono soup is ready..
Was that so difficult to try?
It is very easy to prepare. try it and you will love it.
Okay house that is all for today. Exactly how I prepare this ogbono soup today for lunch. This is my lunch for Today am enjoying it the soup is so sweet and tasty.
I finish everything in the plate..
See how drow the soup is? If I used more than that, the soup would have been so drow and sticky that is why you have to use small of the ogbono or mbukpapuyo to avoid you dragging soup with your plate.
See enjoyment.. I am enjoying this soup so much.
