Kolak is a kind of porridge or sweet soup. It is made from sweet potatoes, Kolang kaling(Frutis of Arenga pinnata), cassava, pumpkin, or bananas.
How to make Kolak Biji Salak?
I am not sure why people call it biji salak(zallacca seed. Whatever you call it, this dessert is sweet and delicious.
Ingredients
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1/4 kg Kolang kaling
- Some tapioca starch
- 1/4 kg coconut sugar
- 1 pouch of coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/8 kg of white sugar
- Three pandanus leaves
How to make biji salak - Steam 1 big sweet potato
- Knead the steamed sweet potato and add three or four spoons of tapioca starch.
- Make the dough into small balls.
- Cut another sweet potato into small blocks.

- Boil 2 litters of water
- Put in all the coconut sugar
- Put in the white sugar
- Put in the sweet potato blocks
- Wait until the boiling point
- Put in the balls of sweet potato and kolang kaling
- Wait until the sweet potato blocks and balls are well done.
- Add three pandanus leaves
- Add one pouch of coconut milk.
- Stir the mixture slowly.
- Add one teaspoon of salt.
- Your sweet desert of biji salak is done.
