INGREDIENTS:
BUTTER CRUST PIE RECIPE:
You can use this butter crust pie in any pie promise this pie crust is perfect. The taste as well as the texture are right, as long as you do it correctly and according to the instructions.
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
- ½ Tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 2 cups of unsalted butter ( 2 blocks ) diced into ¼ pieces pinch of salt
- 6 Tbsp of cold water ( don't consume the whole quantity, just reserve the other amount )
FOR THE PIE FILLINGS:
- The prepared crust in the fridge
- 6-7 medium apples on hand ( sliced into small pieces )
- 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg (optional but it enhances the flavour of the pie)
- ½ tsp cloves ( optional but it also enhances the flavour of the pie )
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup grated cheese
- 1 egg + 1 Tbsp water or milk for egg wash
Prepare all the ingredients for making the crust pie, and divide the butter into ¼ size of cubes. Make sure that that the butter has now on its room temperature but still cold and unmelted.
In a bowl containing the flour, pour one at a time a pinch of salt, sugar intended for the pie's crust, and butter. Blend it using bare hands and smash the butter to blend completely with the flour and its mixture turns like crumbs.
Now pour 1 tbsp of cold water and mix. Estimate the dough and must have the perfect texture, not too gooey, not too dry. When it seems like lacking in water and won't stick altogether, add another 1 tbsp of cold water until the crust becomes well combined and will have a clay texture. Avoid kneading it and just let it blend.
When the mixture has fully combined, circle it and wrap in a cling film.
Now put it in a chiller for at least an hour to set.
Now let's prepare the ingredients for the filling.
In a saucepan under a medium heat, pour the butter and melt.
Then pour the flour and mix until completely combined with the butter.
Next pour the sugar then stir.
Now pour the water and boil the mixture.
When the mixture boils and turns like a syrup, turn off the heat.
Now pour the sliced apples and stir well.
When the apples have now completely mixed with the mixture, add the spices and stir until well blended.
When the filling has now well combined, let it cool down before pouring into our crust. It's okay if it's not entirely cold.
After an hour of allowing the crust to set in the chiller, take it out and cut into halves. Work on the other half for the pie's base while returning the other into the chiller.
Sprinkle flour onto our working table for dusting to avoid the dough from sticking and use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into the same size with your baking pan. Roll the flattened dough over the rolling pin for it to be easy to transfer it to a baking pan.
Place and mold the dough into the baking pan and use a kitchen scissor to cut the excess of the dough on the edge of the baking pan.
After the cutting, pinch the edge of the dough to create a simple design and depending on your touch.
Now pour the prepared apple filling. Level the surface so that its surface won't bulge when laying the top dough.
Now pour the grated cheese but this one is optional, just if you like it.
Now, remove the remaining half of the dough in the chiller and flatten using a rolling pin into the size of the baking pan. Slice into 10 strips using pizza cutter or whatever is available ensuring that the dough is intact and working table is safe from cuts.
Now put the stripped dough on top of the filled dough in the baking pan and use the knitted mat style in applying it for an aesthetic purpose and seal the edges by gathering the top and bottom edges, and pinching the dough.
After sealing the edges, apply the egg wash by wiping throughout the surface.
Preheat the oven to its maximum level for 5 minutes then switch to 210°C or 425°F for another 5 minutes before putting the pie into it.
Bake the pie under 210°C for 15 minutes and switch to 170°C afterwards and bake for another 45 minutes until the top surface of the pie turns to golden brown.
After an hour of baking, turn off the oven but allow the pie to slightly cool down for 10 minutes while in it before taking it out to have a good result when it comes to its appearance.
And here is our finished product! Enjoy sharing it with your loved ones and happy eating everyone! 😉❣
