Siomai is one of the most sought after streetfood in our area. It can be filled fully with ground meat or partly with mixed vegetables. I'd like to share a simple recipe, made only for personal consumption, not for business, as you can see the recipe consists of affordable ingredients and made with confidence and ease.
Here are all the ingredients before slicing them according to desired measurements.
Red onion - 1 piece
Ground Pork - ½ Kg
Molo Wantan Wrapper - bought one pack but only use according to consumption. Bought for 30 pesos per pack, with 50 pieces in it.
Onion leaves - one bulb is enough.
Carrot - A piece of medium carrot is enough. If you don't have any available kitchen equipment that could help you in slicing it to tiny pieces easily, you'll gonna need to exert an extra effort.
Garlic - 4 cloves
Crushed Pepper - 1 pack
Oyster Sauce - 2-5 tbsp.
Egg - 1 piece
Sugar - 1 tsp.
Salt - 1 tsp.
Use a large bowl that would fit the mixture. Mix the minced spices, vegetables, together with the ground meat and condiments all together.
Please forgive me for not using gloves to mixed the ingredients. My mother always thought that it's better to make and feel by hands. It's for personal consumption anyway, and I made sure of cleaning my hands thoroughly before proceeding.
Leave the mixture for 5-10 minutes to allow the meat and also the vegetables to absorb the oyster sauce and other condiments.
Then wrap it carefully as the wrapper is so soft. I prefer to wrap it in smaller quantity to cook it faster and thorough.
Put an oil using a cooking brush on the steamer to avoid the siomai from sticking onto it.
Steam for 30 minutes.
And this is how it should look like after cooking. You can also try dipping a toothpick into the siomai to test if its cook or not. If the mixture still sticks onto the toothpick, then it is still uncooked.
You can create your own siomai sauce by mixing a calamansi juice, chili and soy sauce. And everything will be perfect! Enjoy!
As I'm so in love with photography and already had have various collections of #animals , #nature , #plants , #foods , #travel , #sunsets , #sunrise , and so much more, I want to share all of them for the world to see how so blessed we are to still have the chance to get hold of them and take a good look at them. We may have seen them everyday but what's the great things when it comes to God's creation was that it stays unique on each of every days.
I hope to see one of yours and it will be my pleasure to upvote it once seen worthy. 😍🥰
May the force be with us.
