I have to make a resolution!!!
Like a New Year's resolution where I would promise myself things, like taking care of my diet, being more active and... basically, no more things just to set me some restrictions about the quantity of food I consume.
I know that everyone says that we eat like birds but it is not true hahaha. And if we indeed should eat according to the standards that are common here, again, it is me who gets the additional weight. And I don't like it (to see on myself). Finally, this year my family and friends are not saying anymore that I am too thin. No. Because I am not skinny anymore 😂.
Here they say: You have filled out nicely!
I am getting older and it is every time more difficult to get rid of the weight you don't want to have. Although we talk about three of four kilograms that I don't like to see on myself, I know they can't disappear just like that if I don't change something. For example, make a hole in my spoon so I eat less 🤣
It will happen when I am back in Spain. For now, we have every single day activities with families and friends, and those are always accompanied by food. Homemade, beautiful and tasty food. Also, going out together, for lunch or dinner.
Today was one of those days. We went to a restaurant in the marina, by the river Danube.
View from the terrasse of the restaurant.
So, let's get to the part where the tasty dishes come, and leave apart the future "food restrictions".
What we have ordered? Four of us wanted to eat the famous fish stew, and two people ordered a different dish with meat. In the end, they also got from us a bit of this marvel.
The order in which you serve this dish is important. First, take out the noodles on a plate. These are homemade noodles, which I also usually prepare. It's very simple. Mix eggs, flour, water and a pinch of salt, roll out the dough thinly and cut into thin strips. Put them in boiling water and they are cooked in a few minutes. That is all.
Then comes the soup. Fish stew is prepared from river fish, cut into slices. Usually, it's carp or catfish, and we ordered both carp and catfish here. It's the tradition that men must know how to prepare this stew. My husband cooks very similar to what it looks like in the picture. Finely chopped onion, several pieces of fish, and water are placed in the cauldron. When it boils, add crushed and dried red paprika, salt, and a little boiled tomato juice. The dish is cooked on fire, outside. That's why you see soot on the cauldron.
The result in the plate.
If you see one thing... that there is a fork in the plate instead of a spoon... That's already my technique to eat less, as how I am supposed to eat liquid food with a fork 🤣
{I just forgot to take out the fork from the plate. The spoon helped me to get the stew into my mouth.}
It was very tasty! We were already happy with the stew and the cauldron was almost entirely emptied... but there was some space in our stomachs for a dessert after the main dish.
Sweets! Poppy seed and walnut strudel!
Maybe it will be a bit difficult to explain how they are prepared. The dough is very very thin, and everything inside is ground nuts with sugar. There is also a bit of jam in the middle. It is sprinkled with ground sugar from above.
The poppy seed strudel is the same, but instead of nuts, we have ground poppy seeds in the filling. This is also a traditional sweet, it is supposed that women should know how to prepare it... I just know how to enjoy their taste.
{can't get food out of my mind... but I will, I will hahaha, one day when all my dresses become small... so the desserts will be ditched. Maybe.}
