I went to a high end restaurant today had steak, fries and a greek salad. Paired with a bottle of sauvignon blanc ( don't judge my food pairing) l am all about eat what you like, like what you eat. I like my steak medium rare.I enjoy it fully covered with mushroom sauce or l dip it in vinegar. Some people like the taste of the steak it all goes down to personal preference. But what l don’t agree with is the extra charge of the sauce now days. I had to pay 80rand for mushroom sauce portion that's about the size of a quarter. That’s a whole meal at McDonald’s. I rarely dine at expensive steakhouses but when l do l order the best cut mainly because my everyday meals have a lot of ground beef and white meat ( more cheaper) Covid 19 shut down food chain production hence price increase. But this is now day time robbery. It's considered gauche to add sauce in a high end restaurant maybe that's why they now adding crazy prices to try and have you not stain their chefs signature seasoning.
I should consider carrying my own homemade sauce next time.
