There aren't many yakiniku restaurants in Japan with tables for one. Most of them cater to parties of two or more, and the portions served are often meant to be shared and are too much food for one person. It can be a waste of money.
But I recently discovered a yakiniku place near my home that caters to individuals eating alone, so I decided to go try it. This restaurant is called Yakiniku Like and has more than 80 branches around Japan. Prices start at 550 yen per meal and the concept is that each customer gets their own private grill, so it's great for anyone who plans to eat alone.
After being seated, the staff will teach you how to use the electronic ordering system. At your table you'll find everything you need for an individual yakiniku meal, including a grill, drinking glass, paper towel, chopsticks, and yakiniku sauces. And if you don't read Japanese, no worries! There is an English menu available for foreigners. Most menu items are sets that come with rice, meat, soup, and pickled vegetables. But you can also order items a' la carte. They offer 3 choices of meat: pork, beef, and chicken.
I also got a free drink just for adding Yakiniku Like as a friend on Line, because they are doing a promotion. Lucky!
I'm glad I discovered a Yakiniku Like branch nearby. Sometimes I want to eat yakiniku but I usually have to wait until my friends are able to go with me. But now I can go any time I want!
