After a long and adventurous day at the zoo with our grandkids, the wife and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a day late and have a HUGE cheat meal at our favorite cheat meal place, E-gyu, in Norht Atlanta. This decadent dinery is the glorious combination of AYCE revolving sushi and AYCE Korean BBQ where the meat cuts come out on a sleek bullet train right to your table side. As for the sushi, you just pluck a plate off of the revolving counter and enjoy.
Of course, this is not my first time writing about this amazing restaurant, but it is so fabulous, we find ourselves going back again and again for special occasions or cheat days. I do think that my next cheat trip will be to my old favorite restaurant that is a Southern/Asian fusion spot that specializes in rice bowls and Korean flavors with a unique take on egg rolls, but that is another post all together....lolol
E-gyu is a bit expensive and so we don't go here as often as we would like, but that is probably a good thing. Once we arrived we put in an order for ribeyes and selected a few pieces of sushi from the counter while we waited for the meat to arrive. I started out with some eel pieces and my wife always starts with shrimp tempura rolls as that is about the only one she likes. She did eat a Wagyu steak nigiri piece tonight and enjoyed it, but unfortunately I didn't get a shot of that roll.
Once the ribeyes arrived, I quickly marinated them in minced garlic, a little bit of soy sauce, and a generous amount of yakiniku sauce to get the flavors just right! I got them on the inlaid table grill and ordered more ribeyes and an order of sausage. I selected a shrimp tempura roll, a eel nigiri plate, and a spicy tuna roll to tide me over until the ribeyes finished up.
My wife stuck with another couple of shrimp tempura rolls and concentrated on making sure her ribeye was just right! lol
The second order of ribeyes and the order of sausage arrived just as the first ribeyes were ready to be taken off the grill and so it was a "rinse and repeat" for the new order and they went on the grill in quick fashion as we chowed down on the perfectly seasoned and cooked ribeyes. They were like butter melting in your mouth and it was a perfect start to the grilling portion of our Valentine's Day meal.
I placed another order of ribeyes and turned my attention back to the sushi conveyer. I selected a spicy tuna roll, a philly roll, a couple more eel nigiri plates, and a tuna nigiri plate for good measure. My wife, of course, stayed loyal to her tried and true shrimp tempura roll. I think she mainly uses the sushi as a vehicle for sauces as she is an absolutely nut for condiments and spends more time making the perfect mixture of soy sauce, eel sauce, and white sauce than the time it actually takes for her to eat the sushi, but as long as she's happy, I'm happy!
We finished up the last orders of ribeyes and a couple of more sushi rolls before tapping out and calling it quits. It was an absolutely phenomanol dinner and was made better only by being in the company of my best friend and beautiful Valentine! The only complaint I ever have about this place is their need to BLAST K-pop music as loud as possible and project the videos on a wall-sized screen. Now, don't get me wrong the music is great and videos are fascinating, but it is so loud you can't have a comfortable conversation without yelling...lololol
I'm sure we will go back soon and you'll have to put up with another post about it! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post about our great Valentine's Dinner!
