Personally, I think that having a snacks is a daily necessity.
A delightful hello to everyone in this bright community. How are you guys doing? I’m thrilled to share this blog of me cooking simple yet flavorful Filipino snacks.
It is my honor to bring the Filipino culture, even in small things. I’m going to show everyone a snack that is common here in the Philippines. I learned this simple food recipe from my grandmother, so I assure you guys that it will turn out well.
My all-time favorite munch every afternoon, these goodies bring me back to my early childhood, where I could smell the afternoon, boiling sugar in oil, and the refreshments beside me in front of a television, watching my favorite cartoon series.
Camote and Banana Cue
Ingredients (Fantastic four😅)
🍌Cardava banana
🍌Camote
🍌Brown sugar
🍌Cooking oil
Procedure:
🍌Turn on the heat into high level.
🍌Put the cooking oil into the pan.
🍌Put the brown sugar into the pan.
🍌Let the the cooking oil boil.
🍌Put the camote into the boiling cooking oil. (The order of the banana and camote doesn’t really matter, but please do enlighten me if there’s a correct order of what goes first.)
🍌After the camote is fairly covered with caramel (melted brown sugar), you can now put the cardava into the pan.
🍌Finally, the banana is covered with caramel, we can put it into the plate.
🍌Turn off the heat.
Please do not throw the used oil; it can still be reused.
Now that the snacks are already cooked, let’s make the refreshments. I decided to make a healthy fruit juice to pair with the cooked munch.
Avocado and banana milk juice
Ingredients
🍌Avocado
🍌Banana
🍌Brown sugar
🍌Milk
🍌Ice
Procedure:
🍌Mince the avocado and banana.
🍌Put everything into your chosen container.
🍌Mix it well.
🍌Put in the ice.
Vwallahhh! The juice is made!
Just a reminder: When you pair hot food with a cold drink, you might get your teeth destroyed. This kind of practice is not good if it is done at all times.
Now back to our munch-cooking session. At last, our snacks are perfectly done. It’s easy, right? I managed to do it in just 30 minutes. But it actually depends on how many you are cooking.
Now that my goodies are done, I can enjoy every flavorful bite. Of course, I didn’t cook this for myself alone. I had my family gathered on a table and savored both the snacks and refreshments in a perfect mid-afternoon.
I’m done, and it surely filled my stomach. I guess it’s your turn to make some for your friends and family. A simple Filipino snack recipe can turn out to be fanciful delicious and tasty.
délicieuse!
