"Part of the secret of success is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside."-Mark Twain
Hello My Foodie Friends !!!
How are you today? Hope you are all doing well. We have good weather today and this inspires me to write again.
Allow me to share one of our favorite dishes it is an exotic food. A well-known dish here in our place which gives us more appetite.
I went to the market to buy Bakasi ( Eel ) and they look very fresh, the evidence is the Bakasi were still alive and they still crawling inside the tray and so this was what I decided to cook and I bought 1 kilo of it and the price is PHP 160.
This dish is called Larang or a seafood stew but what makes it different from the other dish is it uses more tomatoes and other spices. There were many restaurants that cooked this kind of dish and the price is not so cheap nor expensive.
These were the ingredients:
1 kilo of Bakasi (Eel)
4 to 5 whole tomatoes
3 medium size spring onions
3 to 4 cloves of garlic
1 small size of ginger
3 pcs. of sword pepper
2 to 3 tablespoons of oil
2 to 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of salt
The Preparation
Wash thoroughly the Bakasi and also the spices. After slicing all the spices into small pieces. Prepare the casserole for cooking.
Mixed all the ingredients in a bowl.
Steps in cooking Larang Bakasi (Eel Stew)
Put the casserole on medium heat and add the oil.
Add all the mixed spices and simmer them for 1 to 2 minutes
- Add the Bakasi and mixed them with the spices be sure to use a strainer while transferring the eel into the casserole.
Add the salt, pepper, and soy sauce to taste
Mixed all thoroughly and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes
- Add 3 to 4 cups of water and mixed again and wait for 15 to 20 minutes until the meat softens and it firm enough that this wouldn't break apart while cooking was being done.
Add hot chili if you want hot soup ( optional )
Our Larang Bakasi is now ready to serve.
Sometimes we try something we never experienced to eat and this is your time to try and you won't regret it. It's yummy and delicious.😋
That is all for today my Foodie Friends. Hope you gain something from this. Thank you very much and to God be the Glory. See you in my next blog.
