I don’t always go all wild and make a giant burger every time we have burgers at the Splatts house. Normally I just make your typical cheese burger, lettuce, tomato and onion. You know just a nice homemade burger!! Everu now and again my carnivore appetite kicks in and I start piling on all kinds of meat. Salami, bacon, ham... whatever is in the fridge... if it’s meat I throw it on and pile it high. Well I hope you guys are ready for another...
Bacon-Bacon Heater
Can’t be having a burger with no fries, so I made some homemade steak fries to go with it. I chose to give our new air fryer a try. I took some russet potatoes sliced them into evenly sized wedges and threw them in a bowl. Melted some about 1/4 cup coconut oil and poured it over the potatoes. Then add whatever seasonings you want. I chose to cover them with a Smokehouse Bacon seasoning. Then put a lid on the bowl and shake it like crazy. All those wedges will get a nice oily coating and covered with your choice of seasoning.
I have heard a lot about these air fryers so let’s just see what all the fuss is about. 400F for 20 minutes then turn the steak fries and do an additional 10 minutes. Well... those sure do look tasty... and... yep they are!!
While the fries were cooking I had already made the burgers and put them on the my pellet grill. Just a little salt and coarse ground pepper is all a good burger needs!! Plus a little smoke action from the Green Mountain Pellet grill and some cheddar and pepper jack cheese
I cook bacon on the grill at the same time as the burgers. I couldn’t get a whole pound of bacon on with 6 burgers, so I have to wait to finish up all the bacon.
Alright it’s time to build this burger!! I am frikken hungrier than a hostage after looking at all this food!! Squirt a little Mayo on each side of the bun, a little Touch O Heat BBQ sauce on one side and some sweet hot mustard on the other side. Now it’s a written rule that the bbq sauce has to be in direct contact with meat. So the first layer of bacon is laid on top of the bbq sauce.
Next a nice fatty patty with melted cheddar and pepperjack cheese, topped with another healthy pile of bacon.
Onions and some Sweet Heat Pickles
Tomato and Lettuce
Then a Measurement
And the Squish
Then it’s time to feast!!
Half way through this beast of a burger I am thinking this may have not been the best idea. Yet... it tastes so good I have to finish it. Well I don’t “have to” but it’s been a while since I have been in a good food coma...
One last Steak Fry...
Well I didn’t plan this out too good did I? Pie... I wanted to have a piece of pie!! I big slice of pumpkin pie with some whipped cream on top... ya, that’s not gonna happen tonight..
So I am just gonna call it quits and slip into a food coma...
