I went a little extra today and decided to do something similar to an all-time fave -- burger steak!
I was a bit hesitant. I wasn't too sure if I could pull it off. Luckily, I saw this simple recipe for a Filipino-style Burger Steak ala Jollibee.
P.S. Jollibee has the tastiest and most delicious burger steak. It has and always been a childhood favorite.
Because of quarantine, we weren't able to get much chance for dine-in. My parents aren't a fan of deliveries as well.
So, instead... I shall make it at home. And so I did.
First, let me introduce you to the Pork Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy Recipe.
What you need
For the meat
- 1/2 kg ground pork
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 4 tbsp bread crumbs
- 1 egg
For the gravy
- 1 Knorr beef cube
- 1/2 can of mushroom
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups of water
What to do
- Mix all the ingredients for the meat.
- Roll them into balls and flatten into sizes of your choices.
- Have them fried in medium heat.
Tip! Add a little water to put more steam. The steam helps in cooking the upper part of the patty. - After 3 minutes, flip the patty to the other side. Add a little water to produce more steam. Cook for another 3 minutes.
- Once done, set aside.
- For the gravy, start by melting the butter.
- Add the mushrooms.
- Add the flour gradually and in partial proportions.
- Keep mixing while adding the flour.
- Add some water and put it in the Knorr cube.
- Keep on mixing until it's slightly brown and you have the right texture. If it's too sticky, add more water. If it's too watery, add more flour.
- Pour the gravy into the meat and garnish with chopped onion springs.
So this is it! My family enjoyed it a lot. And to top it off! There was so many gravy left that I made it as rice toppings.
Hope you can enjoy this recipe the same way I did. Have fun!
