A food diary is a daily log of what you eat and drink each day. It's very important to keep track of what you eat or drink because it helps you and your doctor understand your eating habits. Unfortunately, most of us don't keep track of what we eat or drink despite its importance and it's only when we find ourselves in a situation before we think about what we ate or drank.
In a bid to ensure healthy living, Hive Food Diary challenges hivians to blog about what they eat and drink on a daily.
But why keep a food diary?
According to research by Havard Medical Shool, a food diary can help you understand your eating habits and patterns, and help you identify the foods — good and not-so-good — you eat on a regular basis.
Research shows that for people interested in losing weight, keeping a journal can be a very effective tool to help change behavior. In one weight loss study of nearly 1,700 participants, those who kept daily food records lost twice as much weight as those who kept no records.Havard Health Publishing
Besides the health benefits, starting a Hive Food Diary is exciting, rewarding, and offers an excellent networking opportunity among hivians.
It's the easiest way to find and support foodies with similar life goals e.g. it's easy for a vegetarian to find and connect with another vegetarian just by reading his/her Hive Food Diary.
It also offers a unique opportunity for hivians to learn about different cultures and traditions by reading about what people eat or drink on a daily.
Hivians can use Hive Food Diary to set eating or drinking goals as well as raise awareness about nutrition and hunger, food loss, or support causes that aim at fighting malnutrition and hunger around the globe.
How to write a Hive Food Diary.
Writing a Hive Food Diary is as simple as taking pictures of what you eat and drink daily and making a post about them detailing when and where you ate, why you ate or drank what you ate and drank, and giving any details that you think will make your food journal accurate and interesting.
You may consider talking about how much you ate or drank, the cost of what you were eating if you were buying from a restaurant, the food feelings, what you were doing while eating, who you ate with, etc.
Feel free to share a recipe of what you ate if you cooked it or know the recipe.
Use #fooddiary, #hivefooddiary and #YourCountry as primary tags and do well to tag to your post.
I will get in touch with the Admins of the Foodies Bee Hive to discuss how we can work together and better promote this initiative.
You have a Hive Food Diary. Now what?
After completing a week’s worth of food blogging, step back and look at what you’ve recorded. Search for any trends, patterns, or habits. For example, you might consider:
- How healthy is my diet?
- Am I eating vegetables and fruit every day?
- How much water did I drink during the week?
- How much food did I lose during the week?
- How much am I spending on food?
- Am I eating whole grains each day?
- Do my moods affect my eating habits?
- How often do I eat on the run?
- How much waste did I generate from eating and drinking?
- ... and lots more.
I will like to earn FOODIE while on Hive as well as connect with the admins to further discuss how we can promote this initiative.
