Going to Japan this time round is all about food, not just sightseeing. This time, we decided to try out Komeda’s coffee, a big chain in Osaka. We didn’t try it last time as we wanted something more unique but we decided to try it because of their dessert menu. Also, someone told us about the red bean milk tea so we had to try it.
They had an English menu for us but we wanted to improve our Japanese so we opt to order from that menu. I ordered the special layer cake set which comes with a drink of your choice which I chose an earl grey, a red bean milk tea, a pizza sandwich for hubby and the kids wanted the layer cake with ice cream set. We only ordered one set for the kids as it looked massive for an afternoon tea.
It took awhile for the food to be served but the drinks came first. I haven’t had a proper black tea for a few weeks so having one at that moment was pretty good. We’ve been having green tea ever since arriving in Tokyo so this feels like home. The milk tea I have to say was well worth the visit. It was not over the top sweet and was nice and hot when it was served. It was perfect for a winter day.
The desserts finally came and gosh that cake was huge. The boys started on their cake with ice cream and mine came fresh cream. Yum is the only think I could say, the cake was warm when it came out, smelling fresh. Lastly, hubby’s pizza sandwich was epic. He thought it was tiny based on the price but it came out like a full meal. No need for dinner that night. The smell of cheese was filling our table and the combination of other ingredients in that sandwich was just done to perfection. We were very impressed with it.
Komeda Coffee also does a great breakfast where you order any drink and you can get breakfast for free. We didn’t get to try it but I’ve seen many people talk about it on youtube so maybe I would try it before we go home. There isn’t one near our place but maybe I’ll try to get up early and travel to one and see how it is.
