Hello lovely hivers and hello foodies bee hive community. I hope you are all doing great today ๐ธ
For today's blog I will share to you on how to make a polvoron or Spanish shortbread.
What is polvoron?
Polvoron is a famous desert here in our country that we learned to make from the Spaniards. A polvorรณn came from Spanish word polvo meaning dust or powder. It is made from flour , sugar, milk and mix nuts.
Story time!
Last week we bought some Polvoron in Goldilocks and I really like their polvoron like ate 10 pieces in one seat. As I am eating the polvoron I really love how it melts on my mouth and I also love the buttery taste of it.
Then I decided to watch how to make one in YouTube and after learning how to do it I planned on making my own version and thought of selling some.
Yesterday I was with my Aunt and we went to the market. I bought the ingredients that I will use of making polvoron.
We only need 4 ingredients on making a plain polvoron
| Ingredients | Measurements |
|---|---|
| All Purpose Flour | 1/2 kilo |
| Sugar | 1/4 kilo |
| Milk Powder | 300 grams |
| Butter | 1 pack |
Procedure on how to make polvoron.
Prepare a pan and make sure that it's completely dry before putting the all purpose flour.
Cook the all purpose flour with a low heat. Stir it from time to time to avoid being burnt. The goal is to achieve a slight brown color of the all purpose flour for the nutty flavor.
It is also important to cook the all purpose flour very well to kill the bacteria especially when you are using a third class flour. The life span of the polvoron will also increase when it's cook well.
When the all purpose flour is already light brown you can turn off the heat and then add the sugar and milk powder.
When the dry ingredients are well combined you can now add the melted butter.
I forgot to take a photo while pouring the melted butter on the dry ingredients but here's the result after adding the melted butter.
Mixed the ingredients well to avoid lamps. Let the polvoron cool down before wrapping it to avoid moisture.
Let's wrap the polvoron!
I bought some Polvoron molder in the supermarket and it looks like this. I also bought colored yellow polvoron wrapper.
We placed the finished polvoron in a container. I put 20 pieces of polvoron and I will sell it for 100 pesos or 2 dollars.
We manage to make 60 pieces of polvoron out of the ingredients that we bought plus the one that my son ate.
The 60 pieces of polvoron is sold out now and we are planning to make another set again.
