The waiting for House of the Dragon season 2 begins...
So after watching the first five episodes, I took a break, and now that House of the Dragon all episodes from the first season have been aired, I sat down to complete the remaining half of the season, from six to ten. I didn't know that there would be such a time jump, in the first scenes the characters get changed into new faces, to give them the jump. Rhaenyra and Alicent, one of the key characters that we would see with new faces. So how is the season-ending feeling? I would say that the last episode did it all, the whole season is on one side and the last episode's ending scenes are on the other to balance. The show's title goes with Dragon but we have barely seen any eye-catching scenes from them and the last episode fulfills that bucket, making me restless to see what's coming ahead, isn't it the same strategy from all the tv-series to make us restless in the end, so did this.
Lots of Spoilers ahead
In episode five we did see Rhaenyra getting married to Laenor Velaryon and in six they are grown up, Rhaenyra and Alicent both have kids in their teenage years and Rhaenyra is expecting another. At this point and next the story is more focused on who is gonna have how many heirs for the throne, house, power, bloodline, and this stuff. From here we do see Viserys getting sick and on his bed rest where Otto, the hand of the king manages everything with the Queen.
I was having a feeling about these two characters, Rhaenyra and Alicent in heir-yielding duty, but later they turned out to be in their rules. Spoilers Ahead, since Viserys' sickness and his death, Alicent was interfering in the ruling, even when Aegon was put on the throne she did the manipulation and was controlling her kid instead of manipulating her dad, Otto. On the other hand, Rhaynera was also being bold, after hearing the deeds in King's Landing she did stand against to claim what she deserves, her war strategy in dragon stone, and her ideal to keep chaos aside and bring peace and unity was also something to keep in mind.
Daemon loses his wife who was unable to give birth to their child while in labor and chooses to die by commanding her Dragon to burn her into ashes. And then we see the unit of Daemon and Rhaynera, definitely something huge, the Targaryen bloodline getting together, in the ending, they are at the dragon stone, and daemon and the rest of the council are eager to start a war against the King's Landing to claim Iron Throne for Rhaynera and here she acts with patience and makes a quote that she doesn't want to rule over ashes because they are less in several soldiers but has more Dragon in possession so in a war with the Dragons will burn everything. To be honest, I was expecting one, but it didn't happen, she was considering the terms sent by Alicent, her childhood friend.
But but but, the ending scenes, careful, spoilers again, when Rhaynera sends her sons as a messenger for her in different places in dragon back. Lucerys goes to house Baratheons with Arrax but Aemond and Vhagar reach there first with a better offer to Borris Baratheon. Aemond starts his desire to have an eye on Lucerys so he leaves that place with Arrax but the bad boy Vhagar was already in the sky, the largest one. We saw some chasing between the smaller one and the largest one while Arrax gets a narrow escape but returns again and fires on Vhagar which makes him angry and out of Aemond's control and bites Arrax along with Lucerys into pieces. That was a terrible and intensive scene in the end.
What about this ending look from Rhaynera? What's coming ahead, will she start the war she was slowing down? Won't she take revenge for her son? For all the answers we would need to wait for the next season, maybe in 2024.
About the dragons, we have already seen many, almost all the Targaryans are riding or going to ride, from all of the dragons Aemond has the largest one, he didn't have any in his teenage, rest of the boys used to make fun of him. After Laena's death, Vhagar didn't have any claim so Aemond made that move to claim and somehow claimed the largest dragon in the Targaryen family so far. We did see Daemon singing for another Dragon in the last episode, Vermithor. Viserys’ grandfather, Jaehaerys Targaryen was the rider of Vermithor, after his death Vermithor didn't take any rider. So we may see Vermithor in action in season 2, maybe to compete with Vhagar. Maybe the real chaos with dragons is kept for season 2 to start, eagerly waiting.
