I have to say that these contests by @cinetv are never, ever easy to do, but there are so much fun writing once you make a decision. This week is no different with the query of who our favorite director might be and my mind literally began to spill trying to determine who I would crown as my favorite captain of the cinema ship! There are so many vast and varied directors who are so very near and dear to my heart, but, in the end, only one shown like a beacon in the darkness.....the mythical, Martin Scorsese!
You could literally throw a dart at a list of the greatest movies from the last 50 years and there is a very solid chance that you would hit a Scorsese masterpiece in the process, he is that good! lolol For me, the Godlike status he has achieved as a director can be attributed to his dedication to his craft, his adoration for cinema, and his ability to adapt and overcome to the changing times. I feel he intimately knows a stellar story when he sees it and he knows the human conditions so perfectly that his ability to tell us a tale is akin to the Pied Piper leading us to the movie house!
In fact, he is such an epic director that I would be hard pressed to even pick out my favorite of his films. I adore so many of his films from Raging Bull to Taxi Driver to Goodfellas to The Departed to Gangs of New York and so on and so on....my list of favorites is almost all encompassing of his entire body of work and the ones I mentioned above just so happen to be the ones I find myself missing like a long-lost friend and so I revisit them from time to time to rekindle our affection for each other..lolol
I'm looking forward to reading the other entries to this contest, but I don't imagine anyone, even with the quill of a master, could sway me in my opinion of one of the greatest directors of all time.
I thank you so much for coming by and reading my post. Am I wrong? Is there one greater than Scorsese? Let me know in the comments. And remember I love you all!
