Two months ago I started my postcard experiment, sending postcards from Taiwan to Hivers around the world. A month ago I did an update after I sent out my first batch to 10 Hivers. After that update, I got 8 more requests for postcards, taking the total participants to 20 from 15 countries. Here are the second batch of 8 postcards that I sent out.
I love that my little project has generated so much interest, and I achieved my goal to increase engagement and get to know more Hivers. At the same time, some of them kindly offered to send a postcard back to me, so that's a very nice unexpected bonus. So far I have received two beautiful postcards, one from UK, from a beautiful part of the country that I haven't been before, and another from Kalowice in Poland, another city that I haven't been either.
Another interesting thing about my postcard experiment is the postal race, as I call it. I sent the postcards out in 3 batches, 10 on 9 March, 8 on 13 March, and 2 on 18 March when I returned back to UK as there was no postal service from Taiwan to Venezuela and Cuba. Based on what the recipients have told me, I've been tracking how quickly the postcards have arrived in each country. H
For those who's interested, here's the results of the postal race so far
8 days - UK and Japan
12 days - Poland
13 days - Italy
14 days - Portugal (first batch) and Czech
16 days - Spain
21 days - Portugal (second batch)
22 days - France
23 days - USA
I would have expected the other two postcards destined for USA to have arrived already but no news so far. Maybe they just haven't told me. As for the others that still haven't arrived yet, they are
Philippines
Pakistan
South Africa
Cuba
Chile
Venezuela
Let the race continue!!!
APRIL HPUD GUESSING CONTEST
My other engagement initiative on Hive is my monthly HPUD Guessing Contest. This month I've had a lot of entries, 53 if I counted correctly. I think that's the record number of entries. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and for your healthy engagement. This makes it so worth while for me to host this monthly contest.
There was a wide range of answers, from 5.5cm from to 13.8cm from
. Many guessed around the 7 to 8cm mark, and a lot of you took my tip and guessed two decimal points, with
going three decimal points at 8.001 to get that slight advantage 😄
With this chair being quite small and the answers so very close, I had to make sure I got the measurements very accurate. So I took a very scientific approach 😅, and laid my chair down to the edge of a piece of paper and drew a straight line above it.
That allowed me to measure the height accurately, and the answer is 6.8cm. Out of all the 53 answers, there was only one person who guessed the exact height of the chair. Congratulations !!!!!! You have won the 20 HBD prize!!! By the way, did you notice I pointed to the winner already in the above image? 😃
Then I had to check if had powered up to get the double bonus. It looks like he's on auto power up and power up 1 HP everyday, so sorry no bonus is due.
Luckily, I decided to take a closer look, and noticed that the figure for 9 days ago looks a bit different from the other days. I checked the raw data, and it confirmed he powered up 1,000 and not 1.000 on HPUD. Well done to me for spotting it for a such a big power up! The 40 HBD will be in your wallet soon.
Once again, thanks to everyone who took part in this month's HPUD Guessing Contest. I'm already planning the May one which will be Where Am I?
See you then, where ever I may be...
