Getting My Natural Probiotics
BOTH THE WEATHER AND MY BREAKFAST SWITCH IT UP
I switched things up a little this morning with breakfast. Normally I’m a big fan of boiled eggs, which I eat most mornings. Apart from being quite delicious, it’s a good source of Vitamin K which helps to direct the excess calcium in the bloodstream to the bones so it doesn’t end up in the myocardia or arterial walls. I know for sure I probably have a lot of calcium in my bloodstream because of the Vitamin D supplementation I did over winter. I’ve since stopped supplementing since the sunshine levels increased in England. Rather, I’ve been taking walks outside and, when I have the time, sitting in the sun for extended periods of time.
Anyhow, I instead had some oats, bananas, raisins and yoghurt. Some of those same nutrients are present in this breakfast too that can be found in eggs. There is, however, another benefit of this breakfast that is missing from my usual boiled eggs - probiotics. Natural yoghurt is fermented so, apart from having reduced levels of sugar, it also has millions of friendly bacteria that are required to keep the balance in the gut. It’s a symbiotic relationship with us that formed who knows how long ago.
A lot of illnesses that we experience is due to an imbalance in the microbiome. If the unfriendly bugs gain an upper hand, we’re in for a pretty bad time. We need the good guys to be plentiful and strong to battle the inevitably present bad guys. We are a part of the global ecosystem and we need to function as such.
A lot of our modern day habits try to remove us from our natural habitat. We eat strange processed foods and very few things raw. We consume antibiotics at alarming volumes; directly and indirectly. In the west, we hardly ever touch the earth. One can go for weeks, if not months, without actually touching skin to earth in this country. It’s the most unnatural thing most people do. That’s why I make sure to walk barefoot in grass as frequently as I can, or visit a beach when I can.
We’ve been having rain for the past couple o days, which has been quite welcome. The past two months have been quite sunny and dry, so the vegetation really needs it. My grass was starting to turn brown and I noticed some trees shedding dry leaves. We need a good harvest this year too. Inflation is pretty bad the way it is. We don’t want to add a poor harvest to that.
Peace & Love,
