Well, that was one eventful day. It took us all a while to be up and going but by noon there was a gaggle of kids swarming the farm. I got the grill going and cooked up burgers and hotdogs while the other adults worked on the salads and other sides. Many mimosas were poured and much food was eaten.
The sundogs are pretty crazy in this part of the country.
The mini donkey is pretty funny. He is curious and like all donkeys loves to have his ears rubbed. Mine as a kid loved to have the insides of their ears scratched and around the outside of their ears. This one is no different. His baying is down right funny and he is pretty damned loud.
17 children from 6 families and 8 adults all ended up on the farm.
Around 7 we all drove north to Newburg to go bowling on the 4 lane alley. The adults got one lane while the kids piled into 2 lanes, 7 on one and 6 on the other.
One of the balls in the alley has the initials DAR on it and from what it sounds like this was my MIL's ball from back in the day. If it isn't it is still her old initials and the girls used it religiously.
About the extent of Newburg ND. The school is behind me at the end of the street.
North Dakota roads, lots of gravel, lots of flat and straight which means you can really move. 90 mph on gravel is super fun and the car floated over any bumps. Also found where the car is chipped at on pavement, seems max is 129, it just wouldn't tick over to 130.
Sunsets in the plains states are just amazing. This display presented itself once we got back to the farm from bowling. was hoping to get to see such an amazing sunset again and it happened. Pretty crazy how bright and how intense the colors.
The boys cuddled with their cousins on the couch before bed while we watched the Wild whoop the Knights in hockey. Then the power went out for an hour or so before coming back on in time for us to go pass out.
Today we go back to Minot and will stay the next couple nights before leaving for home on Saturday. I have a couple projects to do for my MIL today/tomorrow. I like to be busy and she always has projects I am happy to do. Good thing my SIL will be coming to the parent's house in case the boys forget something here since their clothes got spread all over the camper where they have been sleeping.
