With $120 cash from my first sale today below going into the ATM after I post this, I’ll keep hustling to find more tonight after my gym workout.
Last night, I found a sealed flight simulator PC game and two excellent Rebecca Minkoff purses right outside my apartment within 2 minutes. The rest of the night was a little thin for the effort, but I found some more and got all of the quality packaging I needed for my shipments today. Packaging is often as important as finding items to sell when I need to get things in the mail on time.
As I’m writing this now, a new luggage tag I found outside just sold for $48 to bring me up a passable $168 in free revenue today, but it’s only 7:30 pm with plenty of time for more to sell. My eyes are back on crypto for now.
As exciting as crypto is these days, the show off-chain goes on with 6 more items salvaged from my curbs and sold for income...
Infant Car Seat & Base:
- Sold for $120 cash.
- Found in the rain at the very end of a walk.
- It was in almost perfect condition, and from 2018, so there are 4 more years left before it expires.
- I inspected this very carefully to ensure that everything was rock solid. No chances.
- Recycled weight of 22 lbs.
Orange Le Creuset Dutch Oven #1:
- Sold for $80 cash.
- It was super clean inside and only needed a little bleach water to spruce up the enamel coloring inside.
- The enamel was fully intact with no scratches. Bingo.
- I debated keeping it, but found another nice large like-new deep GreenPan lidded pan that’ll be far more practical for what I cook.
- Recycled weight of 7 lbs.
Orange Le Creuset Dutch Oven #2:
- Sold for $100 cash.
- This one had a twist...
- Someone came to buy the pot above, but realized that it was too small for them.
- I fortunately had a second larger one I brought outside on a whim to try to upsell them that I hadn’t taken pics of or listed yet.
- This larger one had a decent patch of worn enamel, and a replacement lid from a Belgian brand, but it was worth a try.
- She was very happy with the alternative and agreed on $100 cash. I was shocked but glad that I could get a great return on something I thought I wouldn’t be able to get much for.
- Despite being the same color and make, this was found separately, and weeks apart.
- I never got pics of this or its weight, but it was essentially the same model in a larger size at about 11 lbs.
Medical Lift Hydraulic Shaft Part:
- Sold online for $125.
- I found and tried to keep the entire unit, stored at a friend’s elevator building, but it wasn’t selling locally. To not impose more on my friend, I took this part off and put the rest back outside.
- I was trying to sell the entire unit for $200 cash, a solid price, but people kept flaking.
- The lift can hold up to 450 lbs.
- This is the second time I’ve found this exact unit and sold this exact part.
- Recycled weight with recycled packaging of 15 lbs 5 oz.
The full unit for proof:
At least I took 15 lbs out of the recycling versus none.
NHL Hockey Jersey:
- Sold via local app for $68.
- Shipped locally since it was cheaper than tolls and gas to pick it up.
- Found with a few other hockey jerseys that I still have to list.
- It was in flawless clean condition. I didn’t even need to wash it. Straight from the closet or dresser.
- Recycled weight with recycled packaging of 1 lb 11 oz.
Semi-Auto Nerf Gun:
- Sold for $50 cash.
- I listed it for $40, but when I realized the man overpaid when he was gone, I ran after him. When I told him this, he said I can keep it because this is exactly what his sons wanted, and I actually saved him the trouble.
- With the trigger held, the ammo drum rotates with batteries to unleash a storm of Nerf darts on the target.
- Recycled weight of 7 lbs 4 oz.
No you’re not imagining this... No vacuums for once!!!
—————-
- 6 sales / $543 revenue = $90.50 per find.
- 64.4% of revenue received as cash.
- No costs outside of 2 shipping labels.
- 64 pounds salvaged and reused!

I’m posting 5-6 examples here to spread out the recent results since I don’t have millions of examples. I’m also being more detailed for each as you can see, a fair trade versus my typical 10 examples with less info.
The amount of items here in no way shape or form correlates to the amount of effort I put into finding, restoring, fixing, selling and shipping them. My effort is intended to help the environment, others, and to support myself so I can keep doing this while patiently waiting for crypto to do its thing. It’s been almost 6 years since I worked for anyone else, or at all... These things are my rewards.
