I don't know about you, but in the past few years, I haven't been in the mood to celebrate in a special way this date, the eighth of March. I guess it's because I don't want to see it as one of the many dates that have morphed into something else and drifted away from their original meaning. Everything has become commercialized in a way, unfortunately, and I don't want someone to buy me a gift exclusively on this day just because it's International Women's Day.
Although in the past it was a rather strong tradition that on this day we always gave something to our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and teachers. A flower or a small souvenir, a postcard, or some handicraft, usually if we made something ourselves at school. Sometimes it was a clay vase or jar that we prepared for days or even weeks in advance. It was nice because it was our effort and the time we invested. The reaction of our mothers, to whom the gift would be presented was priceless.
Yesterday evening, I received a message from the gym where I do Pilates. It was a little congratulatory message that they probably sent to all female members of the gym, but it was anyway nice on their part.
We want to congratulate all women although the truth is that we congratulate you every day... for being strong, committed, fighters and because everything you set out to do, you achieve it. And we want to celebrate it with a shake, for all of you who come to train this day. We all celebrate the 8th of March. Happy International Women's Day.
This was a cool coincidence as I do Reformer Pilates on Fridays, so this morning after our Pilates workout we were invited to have a cup of milkshake. It was made of almond milk, Greek yoghurt, cookie-flavoured protein and blueberries. The name of it was Cheesecake! (another coincidence - one of my little students asked me yesterday what is my favourite dessert and I answered that it was cheesecake, although the truth is that I can't really decide on this as I like everything 😂).
The good thing about this "cheesecake" flavoured shake was that it was not heavy in sugar but we could enjoy the same tasty flavour.
Only if every Friday we could commemorate International Women's Day in this gym and have a free protein shake after the one hour spent on these torture machines! 😁
Btw, the Reformer Pilates workouts are getting more and more interesting!! Love it! With or without a milkshake.
Happy day Hive ladies, today and every day! 🔥
