Arranged marriage is not common in my culture, and most people are free to choose their own life partner. If parents really love their children, how can they expect their child to swear before God and Community that they will stay with that strange man/woman forever as husband and wife? They know nothing about each other! Maybe he thinks you are ugly and will never love you? Maybe he is a man who likes to beat women and she will be injured by him or even killed? Or maybe he is a liar, or lazy and will not work? Or maybe he is a criminal who steals from people? Yet, you swore you will stay with this stranger you do not know and have never seen. It sounds like a very horrible thing. 😢
