Fall is here for sure as the leaves are all turning and dropping. Each morning there is newly changed leaves that pop in the sunlight as it rises over the hill. At this point I am just biding my time until the first big frost which looks like it could be next week.
I got a pic of the pumpkins in the truck for to send around her work which got us 6 to go on Monday.
As I was driving back in from dropping the boys off I saw my mom walking up the old road and she later texted that she saw a coyote on the top of the hill. When I went up I found a spot where it had dug under the fence. I grabbed all the wood sections around and laid them all along the base of the fence to deter it. It would be nice if our dog would do his job and keep the thing out as well.
I had 2 lights left from my studio and I installed them in the kitchen over the center island in place of a jenky setup I had built. It gives a good bit more light in the kitchen now and at some point I may get another for the area by the fireplace.
I found my blade. I went walking by the sheep pen near the gate and there it sat on the ground. It made me quite happy to have found it since I knew it had to be here somewhere. I ordered a couple more so I will have extras now in case I lose it again.
The turkeys were all quite happy when I refilled their waters. It is amazing how much the things go through but I guess if I was covered in hot feathers I would be guzzling water too.
1.75 pounds of peppers with 7 Anaheim, 5 Nardello and one bell.
I popped open the yellow crookneck squash and got the seeds out and on a paper towel and cardboard to dry. There was a good number from the one and after I bagged all the other dry ones I found I have well over $100 of seeds if I were to buy them.
went to Scarywood with her friends and I was home with the boys. I had been wanting to make myself a new glass ear plug and J wanted to melt glass. While I worked on my torch he worked on the new one melting clear rods and seeing how the flame and glass work.
Finally the freeze dryer finished just before 9pm.
Everything was nicely crisp and dried and the pucks were well dried but not solid masses, they are a bit fluffy so will need to be bagged individually and carefully.
I bagged all the spears into their respective bags and set them on the center island. I need to get them all bagged into mylar this weekend so they will save for longer.
I soaked for a lot longer than other nights recently and was passed out when got home.
Today we are helping our friends at their newly bought home as there is electrical to work on and a lot of work outside to get ready for animals. Tomorrow we are going to be setting up for the pumpkins so this is a busy weekend for us.
