It was s bit later when I got outside yesterday morning but it was quite warm considering the snow storm the prior day. The 40F temps over night along with the winds helped to melt the vast majority of the snow off.
Friday really late our new floor mat delivered but I didn't get it till the morning. We ordered a Waterhog Premium Entrance Mat from American Floor Mats, a 4x6ft one for our main double slider door. They ended up making it upon our order so it took a couple weeks to get to us but it is outstanding! We now have a really big waterproof area for our entryway. We will be ordering another 3 mats for the other doors in the house and for the craft studio.
It really ties the room together!
With the single digit temps this week I wanted to get some things moved around so they don't end up frozen to the ground all winter. The logging cables were laid out from tree felling so I rolled them up and got them stored for the winter. I may end up needing them for a couple of the trees that still need to come down.
The wind blew tons of pine needles everywhere and I spent a bit of time getting the lower deck all cleaned off and moved the table off to the side of the little shed.
cut up a bunch of chard and filled the trays for the freeze dryer. Each tray got covered with one of the tray liners to help keep the chard from blowing around the vacuum chamber as it dries out. It is rather light weight so it will take a fairly short time to run. It is at 16 hours so far and largely done with the drying so it may be a 24 hour-ish run. 5 Full trays are in and it will be interesting to see how little weight we get.
So much of my day was spent in R's room finishing the cleanup. I managed to get most everything dealt with and put in its place. There were bins and boxes of miscellaneous crap that got dumped out on the floor and sorted. Next will be J's room which is a bit better to begin with but still a disaster area.
I had the fire going in fire pit as the boys were stacking wood and a little cell came by and dropped a few flakes of snow before pushing on to the east quickly.
The fire was nice as it got cold fast in the evening.
The moon was super big and bright shining through the trees.
I grilled our burgers and toasted the buns on the fire and we had sauteed chard with our burgers.
I forgot about time change and was out from soaking a bit before 10 and was asleep not long after.
This morning I was up at what I thought was my normal time but when I came out to my computer and phone I remembered the time change and I realized I was up an hour early. My internal clock is going to take a while to switch.
Today will be cleaning on J's room, write on my story, practice Spanish and Python, we have most of R's clothes that need to be washed and sorted for size, I need to top off the spa before the single digit temps tonight on, and once the freeze dryer is done with this batch we will get the next one loaded and running asap.
