The waning days of Fall are here with the nice mild temps before we transition into the wet dark days of Winter. At this point I am calling Fall done when the clocks go back again for no reason. I really wish the government wasn't so ineffective and they would just sign off on killing daylight savings.
I woke up with a insanely sore back which had me pretty well out of action for the day. I watched the Man Utd match which they managed to win then headed outside to try and accomplish something for the day. The lower garden still needed to be torn down for the winter so I set about getting it done. First I removed the fencing around it and rolled it up.
As I was pulling hte plastic I saw the small air of celery that were still doing well, though small. I grabbed a planting pot and my trowels and potted the celery up for the winter.
I went to the main garden and at the end of the row of celery was a small plant that I was able to get up easily and in a pot for the winter. Both will come inside in hopes of keeping them going over the winter.
The plastic got folded and piled then I yanked all the fence posts up and leaned them against the tree.
The last thing to do was to roll up all the irrigation lines and pile them by the pear tree out of the way of possible sled runs once we have snow.
got the bell peppers cut up and onto the trays for batch 69. 5 full trays of pepper pieces went in a little before 3pm.
I rested my back and watched the Seahawks win their game then headed out to try to do something more. The wheelbarrow was full of ash and I emptied it out into a big planting pot which I covered with a thick piece of sheet rubber.
All the animals needed water so I spent a while filling them all up. Tom was quite happy for fresh water and stood guzzling it down.
I got the fire going in the pit for the afternoon as we have some really old wood that needs to get burned so I can move my whole wood rack a couple feet.
Just plain old worn out and tired. This next month will hopefully be good for me with NaNoWriMo starting tomorrow.
Halloween today and it will likely be raining for the morning mid-day time. Tonight is the last night before the hard frosts and I have to get the celery row harvested and as much chard as I can. This afternoon I'm taking the boys to work to trick or treat then there is a couple of trunk or treat events we will hit.
