🗞 Bitcoin’s Price Is Rising Despite a Dull Halving

Bitcoin's price is starting to make gains after what turned out to be a rather dull halving event. With daily active bitcoin addresses at the highest level since 2018, interest in bitcoin could be heading even higher.

The world’s first cryptocurrency is now trading above its 10-day and 50-day moving averages, a bullish technical indicator. This reversal comes after a huge 10% drop in price on May 10 that led to bearish sentiment ahead of the bitcoin halving, which occurred May 11 at 19:23 UTC (3:23 p.m. ET). At press time, bitcoin (BTC) was trading up 1% over 24 hours at $8,829.

Those who became interested in bitcoin as a result of its halving might be tempted to stick around if the price increases.

🗞 Most Transactions on XRP, EOS and Tezos Don't Transfer Any Value

Research has found the vast majority of transactions on EOS, Tezos and XRP do not transfer any value.

According to a research paper released on pre-print site arXiv, only 2% of transactions on the XRP ledger and 18% of transactions on Tezos (XTZ) lead to value transfers. They found that during the period of October 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019, 95% of transactions on EOS were related to the airdrop of a currently worthless token.

Daniel Perez from Imperial College London, and Jiahua Xu and Benjamin Livshits of UCL Blockchain authored “We Know What They’ve Been Put Through: Revisiting High-scalability Blockchain Transactions”, which claims to be the "first large scale detailed analysis of three of the most widely used high throughput blockchains."

18 accounts made 50% of all XRP transactions

“Our analysis reveals that only a small fraction of the transactions are used for value transfer purposes… and only 2% of transactions on the XRP ledger lead to value transfers.”

🗞 JPMorgan Welcomes Coinbase and Gemini as First Crypto Clients - Report

Crypto exchanges Gemini and Coinbase become the first crypto clients of the major investment bank JPMorgan Chase, the Wall Street Journal reported today, citing undisclosed people familiar with the matter. (Updated at 13:20 UTC: updates throughout the entire text).

Coinbase and Gemini's account were approved in April, while transactions are starting to be processed, the report added.

JPMorgan and Gemini declined to comment when contacted by Cryptonews.com. We have also contacted Coinbase for comment, and will update the article should they reply.

🗞 1,000 WBTC Minted Today on Ethereum Dwarfs Entire Lightning Network

One thousand Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) were minted today on the Ethereum network (ETH) — a single transaction that represents more U.S dollar value than the entire Lightning Network.

It brings the total amount of Bitcoin now locked in WBTC tokens to 2,300, compared to the roughly 927 Bitcoin (BTC) locked on the Lightning Network.

According to decentralised finance data aggregator DeFi Pulse, the USD value of wBTC is $20.7 million, making it the eighth-largest decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol.

The BTC is moving in range between 8600$ and 9000$. Nor the buyers or the Sellers are able to break these lines so we have to wait that the market allow one of these lines to be broken to have the future direction of the BTC. Let's just be patient and enjoy the volatility.
