I am NOT a slave to my words. I have written this in several places in my house.
Because when I practice it, it changes my whole life and if the change does not happen permanently, it is not a change.
We live in a constant race to transform ourselves, improve ourselves, update ourselves... but there comes a point where it's time to honestly ask yourself: is this thing I'm doing really being sustained over time? Because to change is not to get excited one day. It is not to have clarity one night. It is not to promise yourself something in a moment of excitement.
To change is to sustain and when one, before speaking or acting, pauses and thinks, then everything changes. Therefore, I choose not to live worried the worry that can serve us all, is the one that has an expiration date.
And here's an inconvenient truth: it's harder to relearn than to learn. What is already installed in us, what we repeat without thinking, is what ends up dictating our destiny. That's why programming ourselves is not a nice act... it's a task. It requires awareness. It requires discipline, and it requires to stop talking so much... and start executing.
I recommend for this, always keep a log to record, observe, measure, and realize. Because real change doesn't happen all at once. It doesn't come as a dream fulfilled overnight. It is built in the small. In the daily. In what we do when no one sees us.
Step by step... until one day, without realizing it, we are no longer the same person. And yes, there was a change. It seems like a lie, but only when time begins to pass that silent force that sustains what we love, what we want or what we have talent for we begin to understand something essential, that “success" that we were chasing does not exist as they told us. What really exists is the ability to bring things to a good conclusion. With dignity, truth and presence.
Then, common sense, that which seemed obvious before, begins to become almost history. We are no longer obsessed with the goal as a fixed point to reach, but something deeper happens and the path becomes the goal.
Because when the path is the goal, there is no hurry anymore, there is direction. There is no longer anxiety to achieve, there is commitment to sustain. There is no longer a race to achieve something outside, but an internal construction that takes hold step by step.
Every time we repeat a thought or a behavior, we are reinforcing a connection in our brain. In the end, it's not about “getting there”, but about who you become, as you go along. That's why it costs to change, but it's also possible. And that's when everything changes.
