To all gardeners!
January 28 is the NATIONAL SEED SWAP DAY.
It is an ideal time for gardeners to gather and swap seeds in preparation for starting seeds indoors.
I have started with this before. I did not exchange my seeds, but took fresh from the bell pepper. Fortunately, I always have warm weather, so I do not have to grow seeds in the house. I put the seed in a coconut right away.
The point of #SeedSwapDay is to help preserve biodiversity through seed exchange. In this days, modern gardeners collect and exchange seeds for many reasons ranging from cultivating rare, heirloom varieties to basic thrift. In the past, as well as today, seeds are valued, collected, exchanged and traded.
HOW TO OBSERVE SEED SWAP DAY
Exchange seeds with friends and family.
Organize a seed exchange yourself.
Include children so that they learn at a young age where healthy, nutritious foods come from. They love to garden!😃
Don't forget to explain to the children that only the best can survive. (As you can see, out of 4 bell pepper plants, only one survived.) It's like Cinderella - only the good seeds go into the pot.🤗
