WIP: Diseñando a los Gentiles || Designing the Gentiles

Desde que dibujé a este amigazo, quise tejerlo para mostrárselo a la gente de los Andes y preguntárles si lo conocen o no. O si les trae algún recuerdo... Sé que es algo loco, pero también sé que puedo hacerlo.

Esto de hablar de la historia mediante los muñecos tejidos, cada vez me encanta más. Porque siento que reúne a distintas generaciones a hablar según si experiencia (teórica y/o práctica).

Ever since I drew this great friend, I’ve wanted to crochet him so I could show him to people in the Andes and ask them if they know him or not. Or if it brings back any memories for you... I know it's a bit crazy, but I also know I can do it.

I'm really starting to love this idea of telling stories through crocheted toys. Because I feel it brings together different generations to share their experiences (theoretical and/or practical).

Team zapatillas o sneakers

Mi idea es que este personaje del pasado (quisá aún existe, no lo sé) venga a este tiempo presente. Es por eso que lleva zapatillas, para seguir sintiéndose libre. Claro, le costó acostumbrarse a usarlas, jaja.

My idea is for this character from the past (who might still be around, I don't know) to come to the present day. That's why he wears sneakers, so he can still feel free. Of course, it took him a while to get used to them, jaja.

Entre mitos y leyendas || Between Myths and Legends

En uno de los 1° libros donde aprendí a leer, había una historia que llamaba mi atención. Era de un enanito de cabello largo y rojizo. En ese tiempo, no sabía que esos libros eran escritos por autores peruanos. El año pasado, mientras más entendía el Quechua y Aymara, me encontré con un mito muy similar contado por distintas personas de los Andes.

In one of the first books I learned to read, there was a story that caught my attention. It was a little person with long and reddish hair. At the time, I didn't know those books were written by Peruvian authors. Last year, as I began to understand Quechua and Aymara better, I came across a very similar myth told by many different people in the Andes.

Me emociona saber que pronto estará listo. Espero algún día, los profesores e historiadores lleven a sus clases a Gentil, cuando les toque hablar sobre la historia del Perú.

I'm excited to hear that it will be ready soon. I hope that one day, teachers and historians will bring Gentil into their classrooms when it’s time to discuss the history of Peru
