Mate mágico de Harry Potter/ Harry Potter Magic Mate

Hace ya dos años tengo un emprendimiento de impresión 3D, últimamente estuve diseñando e imprimiendo objetos para gimnasios, pero me entro un trabajo para realizar un set de mate de Harry Potter, este set cuenta con un mate que es la cabeza de Harry, un yerbero que es una caldera y un azucarero que es el sombrero seleccionador.

For two years now I have a 3D printing business, lately I've been designing and printing objects for gyms, but I got a job to make a Harry Potter mate set, this set has a mate that is Harry's head, a yerbero that is a cauldron and a sugar bowl that is the sorting hat.

Comencé imprimiendo las piezas que necesitaba para posteriormente realizar el post procesado. Lije todas las superficies con una lija final al agua de esta manera evito que las líneas de impresión se noten en el producto final.

I started by printing the parts I needed for later post-processing. I sanded all the surfaces with a final water based sandpaper in order to avoid the printing lines to show in the final product

Una vez tuve todas las piezas lijadas comencé pintando el caldero, yo para pintar todas mis piezas utilizo acrílico y posteriormente lo protejo con una laca en aerosol. Para el caldero mescle acrílico negro con un poco de blanco perlado para aplicarle el brillo sutil que este poseía. Luego de tres capas de acrílico quede conforme, espere a que seque y con un pincel fino aplique dorado a los detalles de las letras y el escudo de Hogwarts.

Once I had all the pieces sanded I started painting the cauldron, I use acrylic to paint all my pieces and then protect it with a spray lacquer. For the cauldron I mixed black acrylic with a little pearly white to give it the subtle shine it had. After three coats of acrylic I was satisfied, waited for it to dry and with a fine brush I applied gold to the details of the letters and the Hogwarts shield.

Mi pulso en general no es muy bueno especialmente cuando intento concentrarme para hacer las cosas bien, así que luego de varias capas de pintura dorada note que manque la parte que había pintado en negro, pero una vez termine arregle esos pequeños detalles y logre que quedara perfecto.

My pulse in general is not very good especially when I try to concentrate to do things right, so after several coats of gold paint I noticed that I missed the part that I had painted in black, but once I finished I fixed those small details and made it look perfect.

Por otra parte, el sombrero seleccionador lo imprimir con color marrón, pero necesite aplicarle masilla para arreglar ciertos errores y mejorar el acabado superficial. Una vez termine de aplicar y esperar a que seque; lije la superficie, primero con una lija de grano grueso y luego con uno más fijo para evitar que queden rayones. Mescle acrílico marrón y dorado para obtener un marrón más claro y brillante, aplique dos capas espere a que secara y una vez estuve conforme con una esponja comencé a agregar los detalles de las sombras en negro y marrón más oscuro para generar cierto realismo. Los ojos los pinte totalmente negro para generar esa profundidad en las cuencas de los ojos y la boca.

On the other hand, the sorting hat is printed with brown color, but I need to apply putty to fix certain errors and improve the surface finish. Once you finish applying and waiting for it to dry; sand the surface, first with a coarse grit sandpaper and then with a more fixed one to avoid scratches. I mixed brown and gold acrylic to obtain a lighter and brighter brown, applied two coats, waited for it to dry and once I was satisfied with a sponge I began to add the details of the shadows in black and darker brown to generate some realism. The eyes I painted totally black to generate that depth in the eye sockets and mouth.

Tal vez en las fotos no se nota muy bien, pero los diferentes tonos generaron un buen acabado final.

It may not show up very well in the photos, but the different tones generated a good final finish.

Por último, pinte el mate de Harry Potter y puedo decir que fue el más complicado de pintar debido a que la parte de los anteojos y la cara había que pintarlos de negro y color piel y si no tenía un buen pulso manchaba el rostro de color negro, cubrir mir errores con pintura color piel fue muy complicado.

Finally, I painted Harry Potter's matte and I can say that it was the most complicated to paint because the part of the glasses and the face had to be painted in black and skin color and if I didn't have a good pulse I would stain the face in black, covering my mistakes with skin color paint was very complicated.

Comencé pintando en pelo y los anteojos de negro intentando tener cuidado de no manchar la parte del rostro, aunque fue muy complicado. Para el rostro tome color piel y lo mescle con un poco de naranja para acentuarlo, aunque me pase con las proporciones y parecía que Harry había estado en una cama solar, mientras seguí pintando y dando capas lo arregle diluyendo el color con agua hasta lograr un mejor color. Intente arreglar lo mejor posible los pequeños detalles que quedaron al pintar, podría haberlo hecho mejor pero no quede tan disconforme con el resultado final, para el próximo mate voy a hacerlo mejor.

I started painting the hair and the glasses in black trying to be careful not to stain the face part, although it was very complicated. For the face I took skin color and mixed it with a little orange to accentuate it, although I went too far with the proportions and it looked like Harry had been in a sun bed, while I continued painting and giving layers I fixed it by diluting the color with water until I got a better color. I tried to fix as best as possible the small details that were left when painting, I could have done better but I was not so dissatisfied with the final result, for the next matte I will do better.

Para finalizar el trabajo utilice una laca en aerosol para proteger la capa superficial de pintura, una vez seco prepare un pequeño espacio en mi escritorio para sacar unas fotos y publicitarlo en mi cuenta comercial de Instagram.

To finish the work I used a spray lacquer to protect the surface layer of paint, once dry I prepared a small space on my desk to take some pictures and advertise it on my commercial Instagram account.
