Relocating to Switzerland - #03 - The Movement Starts

Hello lovely Hiveans !

Today I will post the last entry about my relocation to Switzerland before we are actually leaving the country. We are very very close to our final movement now 😁

What We Did So Far

So far I recieved my signed Working Contract and we were able to get a signed House Rental Contract and quickly canceled our old apartment contract. I wrote about these in the former episodes, but can repeat that all people I had contact so far were super friendly, the talks were rather unformal and I experienced only positive thinks there. These two points were the crucial elements we needed to go on with our subsequent plannings ^^

.. In addition, as we have cats, we applied for European Cat Passports and had them vaccinated. By the way, Switzerland is completely free of rabies ! .. Meanwhile we put out their transportation boxes, so that they can already get used to them ^^

What Happens Next?

On Monday next week we will go to citizens' office to get our Passports and our De-Registration. This took only some clicks online and later on only 15 minutes in the office, so its super easy to do.

After that, the Moving Company will arrive and pack all our furniture and moving boxes into their truck. This we also arranged via some email in just one day and it was super uncomplicated. They will pack and depack all things for us and also arrange all necessary customs matters, which makes everything easier for us 😉

As our new place will have an integrated kitchen, we also had to Sell Our Kitchen. This actually happened one day before Christmas. Thus, our Christmas time was quite scarse, but something special too .. The kitchen belongs now to our cats exclusivley as their private dining room ^^

In-between christmas and new year, the only other task that we had was Packing. In terms of real work, this was by far the most difficult task of all, as the two contracts, the citizens office appointment and contacting the moving company, only needed a few clicks online and some e-mails. We were already packing 20 boxes.

I also went through the whole basement and got rid of all unnecessary stuff there. It only has left some children's things now, but all of them are to big for being packed into boxes, so they will stay there like this for the movement.

Now the only things left are our bed linen, some clothes, and a little bit of kitchen equipment. But these things can be packed super quickly and we still have 5 boxes left for this last minute packing ^^

After the Relocation

Of course the things mentioned above are not everything that we have to do in the coming days and weeks, but the rest will be done once we arrived in Switzerland. This includes a new Bank Account, Insurances and the Registration in our new citizens office, but will be done once we get finally there and are allowed to ... (There is still Cornona around to complicate things) .. But we don't assume that it will be too complicated and probably done in one or two days 😉

In addition we need to write some e-mails to cancel our german insurances, broadcast contributions, electricity contract and more, but this should work flawlessly via just e-mails and a picture of the de-registration document.

All these things and how the whole relocation worked out will be topic of the next episode. I don't know when I will have the time to write it and it may take quite a while, so if you are interested you need to be patient ^^

Summary

So far we received a working and renting contract, are close to retrieve our new passports and deregistration and have arranged a moving company to relocate our belongings ... We have also list of addresses which we need to contact to cancels various last contracts with the de-registration document ... We also already wrote down the places to go for our new bank accoount, diverse insurances and the iportant registration ... If everything goes well, we start our big relocation in two days and will be able to get everything done during the next week, or maybe next two weeks 😁

There are some other things to be considered too, such as contacting the the new school and so on, but I will talk about it when its the right time for this ^^
