Overview
Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: in Tier 4 with
from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance,
in Tier 3 with the
alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and
in Tier 3 with the always lively
. You can see my last report for Brawl #150 here.
To set the record straight, Brawl #151 finished up around May 12, so not to confuse these results with the brawl that just recently ended May 17. I don't know about yall, but I think palindromes are fun. 151! Now onto the action.
DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory
There's no way around it -- I was disappointed to see Shield of Glory fall to a tie for third place in such a tight group, especially due to my mediocre 5-4 record. Had I just won my battle against our allied rivals Guardians of Glory, we would have finished ahead of them on breakers. Had I won all of my battles, we would have taken down Immortal Gods -- it was that tight at the top.
Despite my disappointment and the drop to third, we still collected 142 crowns, 8114 merits, and 152 SPS for our record of 112 wins and 68 losses. There were no undefeated brawlers this cycle with only and
turning in one-loss performances. Not only did I stumble to a 5-4 record, but it didn't even help that I rented a few extra summoners such as Byzantine Kitty and Mylor Crowling defending Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League.
There were quite a few frustrating losses since I went 5-4, but none more so than this 15-mana, death-only silent summoner battle against of Guardians of Glory. Keep in mind that if I win this battle, we would have taken second ahead of our alliance rivals, but of course, their Bonesmith infects my Windeku on its first attack and my Fiend was hung out to dry on sneak defense when it would have been better suited in front of my Silent Sha-vi. If either of those two small details were different, I would have won the battle, but those were the small margins that cost me the win and cost our guild bragging rights against GoG. ARRGGHH!
Things didn't go well against my main competition, of Immortal Gods, in a very winnable 60-mana, little league, no-neutral opportunity battle. I was completely outsmarted by their use of Vruz sandwiched between their tank and the double-striking Dhampir Infiltrator that destroyed my backline. This loss was a thumping made all the more frustrating because I have most of the same monsters that were used against me -- but I just didn't think of it myself. I need to make sure to put this behind me and come back more focused for the next brawl!
TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)
In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) were also involved in a razor-this result taking first place on tiebreakers over Forbidden Summoners and just five wins ahead of The Wizards in third. Our final record of 98 wins and 44 losses guaranteed us 122 crowns, 6778 merits, and 48 SPS.
We had three Brawlers finish with perfect, undefeated records: at 9-0,
at 8-0, and
at 5-0. I also did my part, going 7-1 defending Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League. Thank goodness we were able to take first place as I would have been all the more frustrated if my lone loss cost my guild top spot like it did in Tier 4.
But let's take a look at that loss. It came against of The Wizards in a 26-mana back to basics battle. With both of us predicting magic-heavy lineups, their choice to use Grandmaster Rathe for void armor trumped my selection of Sthispa for phase, especially since their monsters were generally faster than mine. Other than this misstep, I won the rest of my battles to help us secure first place!
Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate
For the second straight brawl in Tier 3, The 420 Syndicate turned in a final record nicely above a 50% win rate going 52-44, but due to our low number of total battles played, we finished in sixth place. Fourth and fifth were both under 50% wins, while third place was only one win above 50%, so there is good potential for us to turn things around with a few more solid brawlers joining our ranks. Our sixth place finish was enough to earn us 47 crowns, 2350 merits, and 34 SPS.
We had a trio of brawlers finish with one-loss records: at 7-1,
at 7-1, and myself at 6-1, with a whole host of brawlers topping the 50% win rate. I'm glad I'm starting to get a better handle defending Fray 10 - Modern Gold League after some suboptimal finishes.
My only loss in this brawl was to of the third place guild, Pizza a Slice of Madness. Honestly, I felt a bit unlucky to lose this 31-mana, rise of the commons battle, which pitted my Possibilus team against their Kelya lineup. If it wasn't for a few 10% misses by my powerful double-striking Coastal Sentry, I would have secured an undefeated record but alas it was not meant to be this time around. I'm hopeful that The 420 Syndicate will be able to find a few more powerful brawlers to join our ranks and help us move further up the leaderboard. The Gladius Cases
Sadly, only one Gold Foil common was opened from this brawl's Gladius Cases. Duce opened the lone GF in his four cases, while Trey missed on his four. Shaelien did cash in with two Quoras, which is great since this is my only non-GF brawling account.

New Brawl Preview
In Tier 4, Shield of Glory has a favorable group for Brawl #152, and I would certainly consider us favorites to take first place ahead of recent rivals [RKO] Outta Nowhere. In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) are also favorites to hold onto the top spot as we are the highest-ranked guild in our group. For The 420 Syndicate, we will have our work cut out for us, as we are the second-to-last guild by rank in our brawl group this go around. Regardless of our low rank, I'm confident we can continue to outplay those expectations despite our low number of total battles played.
