Introduction
Hi! This is the 4rd chapter for Exploring the Chaos where I take a look on Chaos Legion cards, theirs stats, their utility and their market price.
Last time, I talked about Scattershot cards and how using their randomness produce unexpected results but also allow us to win battles that might be unwinnable if not with their help. Now, I'm going to discuss about another new ability that Chaos Legion has bring to us which is one of my favorite and that is the Amplify ability.
| Icon | Ability Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Amplify | Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1 |
When I first started playing Splinterlands, I always enjoy using the summoners Mylor Crowling which gives Thorns and Owster Rotwell for its Magic Reflect ability because when the opponent attacks using melee or magic, their attack will be countered back on them. When fighting against Yodin Zaku, when you know that they will use range monsters, using Lir Deepswimmer is the counter I use because it has the Return Fire ability that returns range damage back to the attacker.
With the arrival of Chaos Legion, we are introduced with the Amplify ability which alone cannot do anything to your opponent but if you happen to have a summoner or monster that has Thorns, Magic Reflect or Return Fire, is when it shows it's true power as it increases the damage that these abilities do to your opponent.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Increase the damage of Thorns, Magic Reflectand Return Fire. | Ability will not work none of the said abilities are present in your line-up. |
| Ability highly synchronizes with Mylor Crowling Owster Rotwell and Lir Deepswimmer | Ability does not stack if you happen to have multiple monsters with Amplify in your line- up. |

Amplify in Action

Silver League: Wild Format | 25 mana cap Available Elements: Fire, Life, Water, Death, Earth |
Keep Your Distance | Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles. |
This is my entry for Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge where I use Venari Spellsmith to Amplify the Magic Reflect of Lord Arianthus and because of Void, magic damage were halve and anything below 2 won't deal damage so the only monster that can inflict damage to my monster is Kron the Undying
Even with the Last Stand that Scarred Llama Mage gives to Kron the Undying, increasing all of his stats, he's receiving more damage from Lord Arianthus than what he can inflict and when the damage the rest of my line- up hits Kron the Undying, it greatly reduces his huge health until he was defeated.

Gold League: Wild Format | 36 mana cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, Dragon |
Heavy Hitters | All Monsters have the Knock Out ability. |
Close Range | Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. |
My opponent this time uses mostly of a range team because of the ruleset but he also have a Gold Dragon which is a magic card that have BlastBlast ability which will also deal damage to my card at the second position. With the Amplify support from River Nymph, Prismatic Energy returns back 3 damage to Gold Dragon while it only deals 2 damage because of Void. The opponent uses Lord Arianthus but without Amplify to support him, my magic team was able to defeat him.
At some time, Prismatic Energy was defeated because of the Poison from The Vigilator but it last long enough to remove Gold Dragon which makes defeating the rest of his cards easier.

Gold League: Wild Format | 38 mana cap Available Elements: Earth, Dragon |
Close Range | Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. |
This is also one of my entry for Share Your Weekly Battle Challenge with the theme: dragon where I was able to Amplify the Magic Reflect of Prismatic Energy but also the Return Fire of Centauri Mage using Queen Mycelia. The opponent's magic cards cannot deal any damage to Prismatic Energy because they were Silence by Mushroom Seer while it deals 2 damage to each of the opponent's magic card every time it reflect their attack.
Meanwhile, their range cards has the Snipe which will attack the first non melee card of the my line- up that is not in the first position but because of my summoner Quix the Devious, their range damage were reduced by 1 but when they attack, the damage that is returned to them was increased by 1.

Gold League: Wild Format | 36 mana cap Available Elements: Fire, Water, Death |
Keep Your Distance | Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles. |
Based on my Opponent's battle log, the chance that he will use a magic water team is very high so I decided to use a Death team to counter him. First, I use Lord Arianthus because he has Void and Magic Reflect then my summoner Thadius Brood and will reduce -2 of his magic damage which is amplified by Weirding Warrior
As most of the opponent's magic card has only 1 magic, the can't hurt Lord Arianthus which also have Shield that half non- magic damage. while they are receiving reflected magic damage by which even Djinn Oshannus who has Void is receiving damage.

|---|---|
Silver League: Modern Format | 60 mana cap Available Elements: Fire, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon |
Aim True | Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target. |
Lost Legendaries | Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles. |
This time, I want to show you some Thorns being Amplifyed by Dax Paragon. For now, this is the only card that you can use in Bronze league that can use Amplify and it should be used on a dragon team where Djinn Chwala is a part of because there are currently no life monster that has return damage abilities at Bronze cap level.
Instead of 2, every melee monster will received 3 damage due to Djinn Chwala's Thorns that quickly defeated my opponent which is a full melee team.
| Battle Condition | Details |
|---|---|
Gold League: Wild Format | 36 mana cap Available Elements: Water, Earth, Life, Death |
Fog of War | Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities. |
Spreading Fury | All Monsters have the Enrage ability. |
For the last battle, I use Grandmaster Rathe which automatically gives +1 armor, Void Armor and Amplify to all ally cards. Since the mana cap is very small, I use Blinding Reflector which has Magic Reflect, decent health, and decent armor by only 3 mana.
As expected, it wasn't enough to take down Kron the Undying but Blinding Reflector is was able to last long enough to deal damage to his team to the point that it was only a buffed Kron the Undying was left with Last Stand with Djinn Renova at the first position and because of Repair of Adelade Brightwing, no amount of magic damage can get though to Djinn Renova and leads to my victory.
And that's all the battle data for Amplify Monsters that I was able to collect and I was really able to enjoy every matches very much. How about you?

Final Thoughts
Alone, cards with Amplify ability are not very strong but when you have the necessary card of which abilities can be boosted by this card, then they can be a very scary card which helps to bring more damage to your opponents even if they are not the ones that doing the attacking and just what the saying said "having a taste of thier own medicine".
And that’s it for my review for Amplify. Hope that you learned something from it. If you want to follow my previous reviews, the links are provided below. Thanks!
