Why am I posting about this game? Why do I play this game? Well let me tell you a story.

I am very particular about the games that I play. I spent some Bitcoin on Age Of Empires II on steam back in 2017, and I really like this game. Now Age of Empires II is more valuable to me every year.
Whenever I play it I remember the value I placed on it. It was a quick and easy TX to make! I was able to purchase, download and enjoy AOE2 thanks to the convenience of Bitcoin!

It was super easy to pay $22 for the best game ever!!
But it is difficult to watch the value of those 0.0181 BTC rise to $70.35
Today, October 19th 2021, 0.0181 BTC is approximately $1157.438
OK ok I am not trying to get all feelyfeely here. How does this relate to Fortnite?
I play GTAV, I play MineCraft. My brother invited me to play Fortnite with him, and I hadn't been playing any games for a while. I was focused on researching crypto coins, and I wasn't even playing GTA much at the time. I was working non stop like a madman, I didn't take any time to relax.
I saw my other friends playing COD, and I enjoy COD2 Zombies, WarZone is super realistic too.
I didn't like MineCraft when it came out, I thought it was a dumb kids game. I had the same feeling about Fortnite for some reason, I am not sure why it has that stigma though. Although kids may play it, and there are plenty who do- there are a lot of older people who play this game. You can see why!
When I was a kid I was fortunate that my parents bought a NES out of a catalogue for my brother and I, that I learned how to play Mario. When super mario brothers came out, we bought a snes and I spent so much time playing that game, I can beat it in probably 45 minutes now. Some levels are obviously super hard but I can get er done. Then when the N64 came out, not only did we experience Super Mario 3D, but the shooter GoldenEye 007 which revolutionized the gaming world. I was a sniper with the pistol, and had so much fun crushing levels and saving the world.
When I arrived in high school, Halo 1 came out. Something you couldn't really do in 007 was jump around. Halo not only let you travel across massive ring world but bounce around with a suit of armor that made you an unstoppable weapon. The exoskeleton is quickly becoming real and we can speculate on whether this was a future military training exercise of some sort. Movies today essentially imply as much, I started watching Enders Game and of course its about kids commanding military hardware, fighting wars. The concept of a super-soldier is not new, but this is what we are playing now. These complex battle simulations, which leads 20 years later to massive multiplayer online battle royales. So when I first dove into Fortnite, I didn't really get it.
I smashed open a house on the center island, and I was killed. My computer was not fast enough at that time to properly render the game so I was like, this is dumb. I went on my way back to thinking about crypto projects and what was happening here on the chain. I played GTAV occasionally but also MineCraft. When it first came out as I said earlier, I didn't really care for it. I thought it was stupid and pointless, and just for kids. Over time I would see stories about how the minecraft universe became bigger than the actual known universe. The concept of a procedurally generated world is fascinating, but games like Spore transformed our idea of what was possible. Spore had so much potential, and other games like NoMansSky have come along and expanded on the idea of infinite worlds, because the Spore universe was actually finite.
If you can battle through the GROX and get to the center of the galaxy, you meet Steve.
One day my younger brother showed me this insanely huge castle he built and I was actually taken back. He had put so much time and detail into creating this truly massive castle, and I am sure he had built even more astounding things. In minecraft, some have even built computer chips and are mining coins inside the game. There is a mod for Minecraft too that lets you do particle physics simulations inside the game, so the possibilities are not just huge, but serious.
I have used software like 3DStudioMax and Vectorworks to render ideas and designs I have, but sometimes you just want to do something simply like build a floor plan or create a house, without having to do a lot of measurements and trying to form walls and layers. These are things I learned how to do, and are important for drafting real-world designs. Unreal is pretty much the new standard, as many games are built either with Unreal Engine, Blender or Unity.

I realized that Minecraft was just a 3D editor, and they give you a huge pallet of colours and materials to choose from. Adding and removing blocks is as easy as one click in creative mode, and the survival game was the first game where you could destroy and build anything in your environment. Where NPC mobs roam and you can collect items to craft tools and other objects. Where farming was not only possible, but essential to learn for survival. Where anything could happen because of the open-world nature of the game. When I was told Fortnite was kind of like minecraft, and I haphazardly smashed through that roof and then died, I didn't realize how much Fortnite was going to evolve over the next few years. Fast forward 8 months and something unexpected happened. I updated my computer again, after it went down and I had almost 4 months with no desktop computer. When I booted up Fortnite again, it ran smoother and higher quality than I had seen it previously. I gave it another shot, and of course I was terrible at it.
However, I was determined to give it a solid effort. I had just finished Breath of the Wild that fall and I loved the massive open world aspect of it. Legend of Zelda was another game I played a lot growing up, and although a huge world to explore, was still one-scene worlds with only static enemies and destructible grass. Moving from area to area gave you a feeling of freedom, but not the same way these worlds now can be so insanely huge. WoW (and Runescape) were huge mmorpgs but not as plot driven as Zelda games are. Ocarina Of Time is still a great game, and Twilight Princess was hard. Also, scene to scene miniworlds. Breath of the Wild is one gigantic map, although the dungeons are mini-worlds with complex puzzles.
Where I am going with this, is that over Christmas that year, Fortnite added Lightsabers.
I am a HUGE star wars fan, and adding this weapon was the coolest thing ever! Some people hated them, but I loved it! Even though, duels often were quick, you could defelect blaster fire and it was a powerful close combat weapon. Fortnite eventually removed the lightsaber and the stormtrooper NPCS left too, but they added other weapons. The map changes every few months.
And every week bugs are fixed and new features added. It started snowing, and driving conditions in the game were soon like it was outside in real life, cold and icey. Every single match is different because of the chests you open, the paths you take, and the decisions when you are near one or multiple opponents. The outcomes are not predetermined, and I was determined to get better.
When I play Fortnite it is like playing a new game every time... there are always different paths to take, different views to appreciate. Memories of places so familiar yet so.. changed. Just like life.
Why do I post about Fortnite?
Because I will turn some of these rewards into Bitcoin and hold them for 5+ years. By posting your gameplay, replays or commentary on Hive, we can reward users with real value for playing.
Our leisure and entertainment can be a career, and you see it with Twitch stars and youtubers who are monetizing their gameplay! I have been striving this year to create new types of content, that users might find interesting, even if they aren't into Bitcoin. I don't want all my posts to be the same, so I decided to start posting some snapshots and replays myself. Leading by example, show others that you can earn some fun tokens for sharing and being social! Now that I am posting in Fortnite_Community, we actually have a handful of Hive users from around the world, across language barriers even, who are playing fortnite and posting about it on Hive!
(Special Halloween Items are one of those things that keeps Fortnite interesting.)
I even have been able to play a few rounds with them, and we have some replays. It can be a fun way to spend your free time to play a round, and because Fortnite matches are always different, some are short and I can fit one in most days. Every week I try to post something. You can see below that I have made a few posts about this game, and I could do the same for any game I play.
We have 3speak and should start taking it a bit more seriously, uploading content weekly if not daily, and spread the world that Hive & 3speak is a great place to stream your creator content.
There is a new new social for gaming on Hive, some of us have asked, is there one? We have a token for food, a token for brains, a token for music. Play Gamer (PGM is for gaming! Hold 100 PGM and you can gift 0.1 PGM 3x each day. Sort of like the pizza and beer tokens, but gaming on Hive.
If you don't play Fortnite, give it a try.
It's free!
You can just go fishing, if you don't want to rumble.
