Thanks for sharing. Fair points
If something like PeakD already works well for you, thatโs good.
Hive benefits from strong tools, and Iโm not trying to replace them.
What Iโm trying to do is slightly different.
My focus is on building a mobile-first suite of apps that make Hive easier to use, especially for people coming from Web2 platforms. A lot of existing tools are powerful, but they can feel fragmented or desktop-oriented for new users.
With apps like #hReplier, Iโm experimenting with:
- smoother mobile UX
- faster interaction flows
- additional features (media attachments, markdown preview, bookmarks, videos, audios, polls, etc.)
- and eventually shared features across apps (like syncing, SSO, etc.)
So itโs less about duplicating, and more about exploring a different approach and improving accessibility.
Regarding selling pressure โ I understand the concern, but thatโs not something Iโm contributing to.
In fact, itโs quite the opposite.
Weโve been:
- consistently powering up
- investing into Hive
- and self-funding development for years
So our contribution is more on the building + long-term ecosystem growth side.
My belief is:
better apps โ better user experience โ more users โ more activity โ stronger Hive
(What do you think about it?)
Not everyone needs to use these apps, and thatโs totally fine.
But if they help even a small group of users โ or bring in new ones โ I think itโs a positive for the ecosystem.
